Angry Plans for 2021 IS F sport Lexus

The first pictures of the 2021 IS are impressive with great exterior lines and the new red interior. In the past, I have owned a 2008 and a 2014, however, I am really disappointed to find out that Lexus is going to keep that old and tired 350 engine. I was hoping that they would offer a V8 or a turbo 6, so I guess I will stay on the sidelines, until they get a better engine.

This has been discussed and debated at length in the general 2021 IS thread. Lexus MAY release a more potent variant down the road but not everyone needs a V8 and not everyone wants a turbo. I do hope they offer the V8 for those that feel 400+ Hp is necessary but I don't mind the approach they took with the upcoming refresh. Either it will be a quick refresh just to give them more time to finalize the shared plateform/engine with Mazda or a more powerful version will come down the road.

I will be saving this thread to see how many people will be upset when the tried, tested and true naturally aspirated engine gets replaced by the new mazda sky-active engines ishing they had the old engine again, Go look at how many Acura people have been wishing that the 6-speed tranny was back in the TLX compared to the 2015-2020 TLX and its 9 speed tranny.

I think having a NA V6 is a great idea...as a mid end option. It should also be priced as a mid end option at mid $40k fully loaded. The high end option should top out at $55k for a mid 4 second 0-60 car (which isn't that fast these days). I think thats the main disappointment for the enthusiasts clamoring for a higher end option. The overall updates to the car are very welcome and looks great. Unfortunately, the powertrain for most is the heart of the car.

This should probably just be a part of another existing 3IS refresh thread, like this one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...hreads-30.html
