Default What gas do y’all use?

I use petro Canada 94 and was wondering if it would be worth it to keep using it or potentially downgrade to 91?

Shell only, premium. I try to stay away from Petro Canada and to a lesser degree Esso.

whatever is most convenient. you stop worrying about these things when you get older. i just try to rotate between shell, mobil, chevron, mostly cause they're all that's around. costco is great too. it's all the same. no laboratory will be able to detect any meaningful difference between all the top tier gasolines over several tens of thousands of miles on your engine. same goes for oil. unless you race for a living.

besides today most if not all gas you see is top tier. just avoid those mom and pop stations in po-dunk towns where they may water the gas down.

gas today is heavy regulated and tested constantly for water content and other junk.

gas choice used to matter up to the 90s and maybe early 2000s but that stuff is moot today. but people still get riled up over it.

Shell Gold all the way. Use it in all my vehicles. 0% Ethanol as well.
I'm surrounded by 3 Shell gas stations, so I tend to rotate between them depending on which direction my journey starts that day.
This way I avoid bad gas from random stations.

Obviously if I'm taking a long road trip I need to fill up where I am, but always try to stick with Shell whenever possible.
I've used Petro 94 in my bike out of necessity when out riding, and you can definitely feel a slight increase in performance and see better fuel mileage...but that's the bike...can't say you would get the same result from the car.

Whatever is closest. 91 octane is premium here in California. I do use Exxon quite a bit actually as I have an app for it, which keeps me from
having to swipe my credit card or pay inside. Risk removed.

I’m also in Canada, generally I stick to shell v-power 91. I personally never go to petro Canada or the lower tier stations and I try and use ethanol free gas. IMO, 94 is overkill and unnecessary, 91 from a good station is all she needs.

Top tier gas, almost exclusively Costco 93 or Shell 93.

93 - honestly this question normally depends on whether or not your own your car or not. If you own you put premium, if you lease you put regular or mid grade.

We run lower octane at elevation. Less oxygen in the air = slower burn. All that increased octane does is slow the burn cycle.

87 in Denver is ‘Mid grade’ and roughly equivalent to 91 at sea level. Most people run 85.

I shoot for the name brand Shell or Chevron.

But after extensive reading and seeing some 3rd party reviews...if I need gas now and time doesn't permit the search for my preferred...I'll go to a cheaper top tier place if its whats available. I used to go out of my way to find Shell or Chevron no matter what.
Like Arco here in CA or Valero, if its whats available now, its ok. If Shell is close, then I'll pass the Acro.

Like said I just avoid "Bob's Fuel" or whatever (sorry Bob).

Always 91 in an IS regardless.

If you're a f***n d-bag you do. What are you, cheap and cant afford a dollar or 2 more to maintain your car in a way that's stated on the manual and on the gas cap which says 'premium only' ?

Yeah seriously even in a rental...respect the car and the future owner.

I always used Chevron because you need the cleaners for a direct injection engine. 91-93 always because more horsepower is better.

I now use nuclear fusion

I'm pro Chevron like I said. But any top tier will have the detergents necessary. "Thechron" is just the name they put on theirs.

Although I THINK they were the best, by a minuscule margin.

The ideas we have (myself included) that those brands are so much better is pure marketing.

Now Im no engineer. And some users have reported better performance. I've tried too for my KCLV. Just data I'm referring to.
