Default Slight chip on new OEM brake pads edge. Will this be a problem?

I had new brakes and rotors installed recently on my 2019 F sport. I guess the person installing it missed this chip that was on the pad. I only know about this because I had to go back to the shop after 150 miles since they forgot to lube the brake pins which caused really loud squeaking. I saw the chip as the tech pulled out the pads. I asked him if it's an area for concern, and he said no since it will even out on it's own and be fine. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty busy so I don't want to have to go back to the shop for a third time just to get a whole new set of pads, especially when the drive is 25 miles. The car drives and brakes fine. No vibration or anything. Is it even worth my time to get the pad replaced at this point or just leave it?

I wouldn't go back to that shop again because of how careless they are but he's right, it'll even out

No worries. You will never notice it. And I agree though, i would find a new mechanic. Lubing the pins is part of the job every time. Thats just careless.

You should do this job yourself as it's baby-cakes easy. But yeah don't worry about the chip.

As for DIYers, I would consult the owners or repair manual before going all lube-crazy, some manufacturers specifically warn *DO NOT* lube the caliper pins. BMW warns against this. They found that the lube attracts dirt and debris and causes more harm than good.

Other manufacturers like I believe Toyota call for lube. Just don't automatically assume every manufacturer calls for the same.

Personally on my 3IS i just cleaned the pins w/ brake cleaner and all was well.
