Getting a 350 RWD would be the way to go if you want to maintain some of the Germanic-style fun to drive factor. I'd say it's worth the money. Plus the fuel economy would be slightly better.

I am running 5W-30 oil in my GTI, though I am switching over to a 5W-40 at next interval. I had mistakenly changed to oil that doesn't meet VW's specs, so that's really why I am changing, more so than the viscosity rating. There are 0W-30, 0W-40, and 5W-30 oils that do have the certification from VW, but the one I will use (Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech) just so happens to be 5W-40.

In my Lexus, I always ran whatever the dealership techs put in the car. I assume it was 0W-20 but never thought to ask, if you can believe that.

For those who use 0w20, did u guys notice any oil consumption (losing oil) per 5000km?

I was reading on another thread where on high mileage is300/350 engines that lost oil, putting 0w30 helped or completely eliminated any oil loss.

I believe also the is200h uses 0w30, but it's a different engine.

Any feedback on oil loss?

we have a lot of snow. AWD is a must. I run Motul xcess 5w40 on my audis, best oil imo.

About 60,000 miles on my 2014 AWD, use 0w20 year round, with just an annual oil change. Drive 5-10,000 miles per year, no oil loss.

2015 350 with 90,000km...in Canada, use 0w-20 year round and I burn Zero oil between changes.

also 5000km is short for a synthetic, I do 8000km oil changes on synthetic which is still early BUT I make a ton of short trips, live in an extreme climate and have OCD when it comes to taking care of my stuff.

I would probably do every 8000 km as well, or once a year, whichever comes first. U dont wanna leave oil more than a year, with summer, winter, high idling in traffic, and so on. I guess its case by case.

It is labeled as such.

I have a couple of questions.

I have quite a bit of Motul xcess 5w40 oil, can I safely use it instead of tm5w30 in summer?

As far as witer, I usually put Mobil 1 0w40 on my other cars (turbo and supercharged).

What's the recommended oil for the is350 in Canadian winters, and would it be safe to use the 0w40?

thanks all
RX 350L takes 0-20w.

FYI, this thread is about the IS350, so I am not sure where the RX350 comes in.
