door lock failure
Good morning fellow CL members
i have a 2014 IS350 F sport and my i guess my door finally decided to stop locking and unlocking.
my issues:
If my door is unlocked.....it'll stay unlocked
If my door is locked ...........it'll stay locked, but it'll unlock if i open my car door from the inside.
Im not able to lock or unlock my car from the outside, even when i press the lock/unlock button on the car door. I have no idea which part is associated with this. i took my door panel off to see if anything was loose and everything looked good. Im assuming the part i need is the one the cables are attached to. Anyone else have this issue with their 3IS?
which part do i need to fix this issue?
thanks

Have you checked your key fob battery?

I'm going to assume this is the Driver's door you are talking about.
The likely failed part is the Door Actuator.
Have you tried the manual key from the outside to see if the door opens?

Add to the list of potential long-term concerns for 3IS. Others have noted door lock actuator problems too. Luckily you can find aftermarket replacements for $30 a pop. My friend's 2IS door actuators failed.

Edit: was a little different back then though....but same related issue. One day can't open the door.

2014 IS250 FSport, left passanger door has this same issue intermittenly. I'll go to lock the door, and don't get the "beep" to tell me it's locked. I have to lock it manually. Strangely, when I replaced the car battery, it started working without issue for a few months. It's back now, but I'm not gonna do anything about it yet.

I believe there is a DIY or video somewhere that shows how to replace the motor in the door actuator.
If you're handy and have the time, the door actuator is actually a large assembly that contains a motor within.
The motor is actually the component that fails. The quickest and easiest thing is to just replace the complete door actuator...you could be in and out of the door in roughly an hour depending on tools available and skill level.
To replace the motor itself you would need to add time to take apart the unit swap the motor and reassemble...which could put you into a few hours in total.
The cost is much less, but this increases the repair time and chances of something going wrong.
Personally I would just replace the entire actuator, but that's me.
