You get the IS because you do not want to deal with installing an oil catch can or worrying about your rings cracking... That sort of stuff.
That’s exactly why I bought the IS. My last car was an E92 M3 and I was sick of worrying about the next $1000 repair bill. The IS has the best peace of mind-speed-comfort-looks combo and I love it. 0-60 who cares. You dump all the money into the car to hit your goal and you’ll still get beat by someone.

Ain't that the truth. Even the BMW forums have lost interest in 0-60 as any EV in the class can smoke them off the line regardless of their trim. Its about the quality and balance of the car in this class. The car is very expensive to mod for the small incremental gain in horsepower. Its fun to drive, super reliable, and pretty cheap to maintain. I say enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah, I'm about hitting around the 68-ish mph at the end of 2nd gear. My current best 0 to 60 is at about 5.32 and that's with tune, intake, and catback. video here:

You didn't even brake launch. Hold the brake and jam the gas to bring the revs up. Should easily be in the 4sec with full bolt ons

I was thinking the same thing. There was one guy who posted he was getting ~5.1 with a tuned AWD car with a catback. I think he also had lighter wheels and a intake? I've been trying to find the post but have not been having any luck, I think it was on one of the RR racing tune threads. Sweet car though @dappy9.

I have a 2015 IS350 and it's stock aside from K&N drop in filter and Kuhmo PS91 tires. I ran a 13.8 @101.5 a few weeks ago at MIR.

That's a very fast track.

I feel with stickier tyres and brake torque it's possible to just dip in the 5s. Just standing on the gas in D I'd say it's close to 5.2 in the rwd 8 speed. Manual mode seems a tad slower
But nothing like the aggressive gearing in the 2is that could do it easily.

indeed, they always mention something like the track being 1000 ft below sea level or something. The air was dry and about 45F when I made that pass.

The most aggressive brake torqueing will net 5.6s with roll-out. If you just mash the throttle, its about a 6s car...and you'll hit the quarter mile at about 14s flat. Something with first gear is making the car slow...it feels Lexus is somehow managing the torque at the line as it feels weak off the line. I drove my IS350 like I stole it and always felt the first gear was really disappointing...it felt strong on the highway though where you can really take advantage of its powerband above 4k rpm.

I think the fact the first few years of RWD IS’s did not have a LSD impact acceleration. Also the final drive ratio of the 8 speed is 3.13? (Could be wrong) vs 3.73 for the 6 speed.

Open differential and tall gearing is not ideal for 0-60.

How did you do the measurement? Was it a Vbox or Draggy? You may have a factory freak if you achieved those numbers but most Is350: won't break 5.5s stock. As I said, it's not really a great drag car to begin with.

yup, exactly. Even 2nd i expected a bit more from. After that its a quick car, keeps ups with most which would blow its doors off if from a stand still.

what risks? I have mine tuned and have no issues...
