Guys, whenever I am closing the trunk, there is a creaking noise (much like a creaking door) when the trunk is halfway closed at a 45 degress angle on the right side of the trunk. Anyone has a solution to this? I have tried spraying lithium grease on the exposed hinge that can be seen once you bend inside and look up, but that doesn't help.

Theoretically should not happen, but I have found on another car the source was the trunk lift support/ shock. Opened it so it was extended and greased.
I don't even know if the IS has them but likely it does like most cars.

You can get a high quality motorcycle chain lube which is supposed to be really resistant to wearing out... but yeah get up there with a flash light and closely examine every pivot/connection point of any moving parts of the hinge and spray her down. No biggy. you probably just aren't spraying the right thing.

Yeah, it seems to be from the shock there, as in when it's extended, then there is this creaking sound... any idea how to remove the plastic covering?
Tried that, seems it is within the plastic covering of the lift part that has a shock/spring inside making the creaking noise, whenever it is extended.
