Default 2021 rearview mirror tap help

Just placed an order for a mirror tap kit for my radar detector and noticed the 2021 IS350 mirror doesn't have a similar wiring as previous years model that I have seen on this forum (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ew-mirror.html). The wire from the mirror goes up into the larger black console, and on removal of the cover, I see two different wires (left has 2 wires, right has 4+ wires). Because of the enclosure, I couldn't get a good angle to put paperclips into those to get a volt meter reading. Has anyone set a mirror tap connection on a similar layout as mine and know which pins to tap?

Were you ever able to resolve this? I, too, have a 2021 IS 350 and I am wondering the same thing. I did find some generic instructions online, but they don't see relevant as the tap in the instructions looks different.

Thanks!

Yup, you’ll have to pull off the cover, unclip the right plug and tap into the wires below.

Dude, thank you so much! Very much appreciated. Just to clarify, the above screenshot is the same wire configuration/setup for the 2021 IS 350?

Thanks!

The 21 IS has different colors but they all have the same function. I tapped into the ground and ignition on wires.

For the 2021 IS350 mirror, the wire colors are as follows:

Pin 1 - Pink (Ignition Power)
Pin 2 - White with Black stripe (Ground)
Pin 6 - Light Green (Battery Power)

Note: Pin 4 is also Light Green, and Pin 5 is White

Was that cover easy to take off without scratching the plastic? Just curious...

Fryer,
Did you ever get your cover off? I am going to do a mirror tap tomorrow for a 2021 ES 250. I saw a video a while back that said to slide the cover down and pop it off. I am not sure if you slide it or just pop it off. I don't want to break it.

It's easy to remove. Hold the cover with both hands and slide it downward (like pushing/sliding forward. Don't pull it. Do a push forward motion. It will slide out.

S3V3n,
Thanks for your reply. The information you provided was 100% correct. I was concerned about causing damage if I tried to pry it off. Sliding it down and then popping out the small portion above the mirror stem made it very easy. The whole process took about 15 minutes. I used an invisicord mirror tap that was custom made with the plug for my radar and a mini USB for my camera. Once removed the top left white plug was the power source for the mirror. The first two ports on the plug are position one hot ignition wire that supplies power only when the car is on and position 2 is the ground wire. This allows the radar and camera to turn on when the car is in accessories or started and cuts the power when the engine is turned off.
