Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ sound like truck tires
Purchased Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ All Season Performance Radial Tire and went from a quiet ride on DWS to the car sounding like a truck with oversized off road tires. The difference is highly noticeable at highway speeds. CR states the noise level on the Michelins is there, as do many others reviewers on line, so this is not my imagination. Anyone else have this issue with the IS-3 (2014)?

I love the tires. I find them noisy even at 40 mph.
I hear a whirring throbbing sound. Doesn’t particularly bother me.
The grip feels great and I would go with them again.
We didn’t have much snow last winter, so I can’t comment on the traction.
They certainly beat the original tires.
There have been many other posts on this issue I believe.

Am I the only one buying tires yearly? Granted I drive like I stole it ever since installing ark grip catback.

When I went from the stock tires to the BFGoodrich G-Force Comp-2's, I noticed more tire noise on some surfaces. However I wouldn't go back to stock, that's for sure! The performance tires that are actually worth getting generally make some trade-offs in other areas. I was impressed overall with the Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate tires I had on my GTI and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for that type of tire for their IS as well. They were a little quieter than the BFGs were but had a nice firm sidewall and felt great in the turns. In fact, I think I might put them on the GLI too.
And no, you're not the first to complain about the noise on the Michelins. It just depends on what you want out of the tires.

I am getting to the end of my 3rd set since getting the car. It's a 2014 IS350 AWD and I used them year round in the GTA.
I have had only two "oh sh!#" moments since I had them during the winter. I just calculated I replace them every 16k kms or 21 months. I am on winter tires now on OEM sizes for the first time since I got the car, but the front A/3+s are done on the inside.
They are a great tire if you need all seasons and grippy and noisy once broken in but you get used to it. It is a performance tire.
I always wanted to try the DWS 06 but couldn't
get verification what happens in the winter after the "S" layer wears down.

I've had AS3+ tires on my '14 IS350 since i purchased it used. Noticed more road noise than prior test drives on cars that did not have AS3+ tires... so i agree that these are noisier tires. I've come to accept it, as I do think the steering feel is better on the AS3+ than it would be on DWS's (that i have and have had on other cars). If you want quiet & better ride... DWS is better. If you want handling/steering feel, AS3+ is better.
