Seriously looking at the IS350, but I am concerned about the driver's seat area size. I drive roughly 40k miles a year for work. I am 6'0" and about 210lbs. I love the looks of this, but want to make sure it's comfortable given the amount I am on the highway. The ES just doesnt do it for me.

Two questions:
1. Does the drivers cockpit area feel too snug for the type of driving I'll be doing?
2. What kind of highway mpg do you get with your RWD? I have seen as low as 22 and as high as 30.

I’d say the F-Sport seats in the ES350 are more comfortable than the F-Sport IS350 seats. Gives those a try.

I am 6 ft 200 lbs and honestly the cockpit area is great. The steering wheel has a wide adjustment up and down and telescopes and the seat goes back farther than I need it to. The seats are way more comfortable than my 2015 GS350 I just traded in. And I used to think those seats were great. MPG's I have not tracked officially, but comparing it to my GS350 its slightly better on fuel consumption. That I can tell already. Hope that helps a little.

I'm 5' 11" and 160 pounds, so not apples to apples. For me the seats feel snug, but in a good way. They're not confining.
I managed to get 30 MPG on a highway trip recently, but more realistic city/ highway driving for me is low-to-mid 20's. I don't get on the highway much, so I'm usually only getting 20 or 21.

40 000 miles a year is not an insignificant amount of driving so I agree that you should find a car that is comfortable to you. Keep in mind a few things, the IS does tend to have the tires wear a bit faster than some of its competitor and these aren't the cheapest to replace (give the size) so keep that into consideration, especially given the somewhat high mileage you make. Now as far as the comfort, that is a very hard question to answer because while 2 people could have the same size, they may not have the same experience in the seat - This could be due to just small difference in the way people sit, certain pre-disposition to back issue and how the seat feels and things like that. My best advice is find a dealer nearby and go try it. Ideally, if they have a used one, you could borrow it for a slightly long road test so you could really give it a good test, because relying on people's opinion here will just a guide and cars are expensive - You don't wanna buy something based on feedback of others and then realize it's a disaster. Keep in mind the interior of the IS has not changed (as far as seat and layout) so even if there is a 2017 or 2018 in the used lot (even with a 300 with the F Sport trim), it will feel the same as the 2021.

Now I am 5'11 and very slim (even lighter than arentz007) so the cockpit is not an issue for me and I find it to be one of the most comfortable interior ever!! I had a 2015, a 2017, even the 2019 RC I had was a similar interior, and now, my 2021 IS feels just as good.

On the fuel mileage, I can't help as I have an AWD.

I'm going to agree with some of the other sentiment here, to try out a ~2018-2020 IS to see how you like the interior fitment. It's definitely on the "cockpit" side, but I've always preferred that in my cars. I'm 6' ~145lb, though, so I'm on the slim side and like a smaller interior. For your commute pattern and being a bigger guy than I am, I would (despite your mention) probably encourage you to take a test drive in a new AWD ES F Sport. That would be a phenomenal car to eat up miles in.

Do the side mirrors manually fold?

For those wondering:
AWD, no moonroof, yes triple beams, yes nav, no ML. Trim plates, 3M 1/4 bra, all weather mats (instead of the liners), F Sport exhaust.
Congrats! I love those triple beam headlights. I couldn't find any cars with that option when I was searching :\

Yes. In the US, at least, there's no option for power-folding mirrors.

Thank you! Yeah, I noticed that I had a hard time finding one with them prior to my order, as well...both that and the larger nav package screen. The triple beams just accent the front end design of the car even further, in my opinion.

Would you mind posting some sound clips? Cold start, high revs, etc. I'm considering on getting this exhaust al though it is a bit expensive for what it is. Thanks!
