Dont re-do entire procedure again...make sure the car sits and is relatively cold when you bring it in or let it sits lots before...
Make sure you hook up a scan tool to the obd2 port and measure the transmission pan temp...also have someone in the car putting it through gears before you undo the overflow bolt.
if I was u I would put car up, plug in tool, make sure temp is within specified range....fill a bunch of fluid in the fill hole, turn car on....put it through gears and then undo the overflow bolt and if it’s within the temp range and a steady drip close everything up. Super quick and easy.

BTW, wanted to give you a big thanks because your simple guide was the basis of evaluating all other data, CL threads, YouTube videos.
I really did not want to buy the ScanGauge II but if I had a shop do it, it would have cost more than $130
ScanGauge II is kinda like Apexi SAFC II (way back in the day) but about half the price...doesn't look as good but as long as it provides crucial info at affordable price...I would highly recommend ScanGauge II

Sorry to bring this back to life but I'm planning to exchange my transmission fluid in the coming months on my 15 is350 and also NX 200t. Judging by your response, the ScanGauge II was able to display the trans fluid temp correct? It is a bit pricey and need 2x the confirmation before pulling the trigger. aha
Thanks.

I did it without the tool, as the car already has temp sensor in the tranny, and if you put the car in diagnostic mode(no special tools needed, but one paperclip) it will tell you exactly when you can drain to check the level of ATF. This is an official Toyota procedure.

I just check diagnostic mode on my 2015 350. I can't seem to find where it's displaying the tranny temp under the sensors menu? I'm assuming you have the same gen as mine and how were you able to find it? Did you have to leave the car running?

Around 8:50 he explains how to measure the temp with that diagnostic mode that I mentioned earlier.

No tools needed other than a small piece of wire.
You might have 1 minute to check the level before the vehicle tells you its too hot, so either get a buddy, or practice a few times. Early morning is the best time.
Save the $160 on the scan dongle.
