Best Car reports that after a long wait, Lexus will release three all-new high performance F models later this year: the IS F, LS F and long awaited LC F.All three models are expected to debut in November 2021 as 2022 models, with each packing V8 engines and extensive suspension changes to accommodate the additional power. According to Best Car, the IS F will come equipped the same 5.0L V8 as the RC F and LC 500 (471hp), while the LS F and LC F will debut a brand new turbocharged 4.0L V8 packing a whopping 661hp.

I'd love an IS-F or "IS500 Fsport" but I'm missing three pedals; can't ignore the CT4-V blackwing coming from Cadillac soon (V6TT, 6mt, RWD); I know it won't have the build quality or reliability of the Lexus offering, but it will have more pedals and that's probably enough for me.

The new word is that the IS F will have the highest HP tuned version of the 5L V8 with 474HP and 395 torque.

Why is LEXUS struggling?
It seems LEXUS is struggling to squeeze any more HP out of this NA V8 engine... What could be the reason that they cant get anything more than 1~5HP from the 2UR-GSE??

That could be a slight possibility, because with the GSF/RCF the numbers were the same, however they managed to squeeze a bit more with the RCF update and the track edition.

To squeeze a few HP out of it with tuning/intake/exhaust isn't anything fantastic...to get more they would need to look internally...cams/more compression/displacement.
I think the goal of the 2UR is to give you great HP and great reliability, not phenomenal anything...as soon as you start to tip the seesaw in one direction (like more HP), then the other side will have to give (less reliability).
RRRacing already has a forced induction kit for the 2UR in the GSF/RCF, so I'm sure folks who really want the HP and can afford it, there is a solution.

How reliable has Best Car been in the past? This was exciting to read.

I think one thing to keep in mind is the 2UR was seen first in the 2008 IS F...if they launch the new IS F at the end of this year (as stated), then the engine will be approx. 14 years old.

If Lexus can shed some weight, come out with an ISF or IS500 and still remain competitive price wise I would sell my 350 FS and get one in a heartbeat. I love the brand, love the design, love the reliability but I need a tire shredding, power sliding, Japanese missel in my life.

I think I would prefer an IS500 over a full on IS-F, because that implies it can be had with AWD. I've grown so used to the traction in my AWD IS350, it just needs that twin turbo V6 thrust to be perfect.

the AWD models still have only 1 wheel on each axel getting power since they don’t have LSD’s....I’m in Canada and I need AWD generally hence why I bough my 350 AWD but RWD with a good LSD should be enough. If they had LSD option on RWD 2015’s I would have got it instead. But initial traction on AWD obv is great, just wish it has LSD’s.
