Infotainment system

The service advisor was incredible when I had the car in. We spoke for some time. He told me not to pay to fix the audio system as the cost was insanely high. But he did say that the 2014-16 range has been a headache in regards to the audio system. He didn't say clearly but I did get the point that this is a bigger issue than they would like. The other thing he said was that the Levinson systems are not as common but when they break down the cost is above the $10000 mark. Listen, the car is great and I bought it for the quality so I could own it for many years, but I did not expect this to happen so early on into ownership. And making it worse is the scope of the issue in regards to other owners.
I found a unit on Ebay from a high rank seller but they are asking $1800.

Yeah, this issue sucks.
Its so strange that soo many owners have been having this issue which appears to be a design flaw and yet Lexus has chosen to do nothing at all about it, other than release a TSB for a software update, which never would fix their hardware issue.

According to what you payed for the repair it seems this issue is more than just a simple blown capacitor or something along those lines. My original thoughts were that the fuse was insufficient and should have been more sensitive to over-current.

My first post on the site. I have been a follower for years and have owned a 2104 IS 250 but after a year traded it in as I wanted more power. I purchased a brand new 2015 IS 350 and have owned it since. It only has 85,000 KM as I barely drive it.
At 5 years ownership and 55,000 KM, my audio system died after a battery swap. Screen works when backing up and I can hear the cd eject motor come on when that button is pressed, but screen black, no audio or Bluetooth...nothing. So I have been without audio since before Covid. Just recently I decided to get a quote from Heffner Lexus in Kitchener. Even with my plant discount, the cost to replace with a refurbished unit (in which 3 techs agreed that it was not the amp or display but the head unit) after labor and taxes would be $2900. No way I will pay that much. But I asked if I can drive the car with the unit removed in case I wanted to take your route and send it to an audio repair tech, in which I can but I won't have temperature controls.
If you can pass along the info for your repair guy that would be awesome. If I don't use him, at least I will have an idea on what type of repair service to search for.

Hello,
I have a 2015 RX350 and the Infotainment unit completely died, black screen, no back up camera picture being displayed. How did you get it fixed? I brought it to my local Lexus dealer where I bought it as Certified Lexus Pre-owned and they told me it would be almost $3K to replace it. Also, I see many used units (at least the screen) on eBay for short money.
Your thoughts?
Thanks..
