2021 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport (ClubLexus Review Coverage)
Hey, Folks!
Michael here from the front page editorial team... Wrapping our review coverage of the 2021 IS 350 F-Sport today and wanted to start a thread for both posts. Cheers!
Heading to Lexus Driving School at Laguna Seca this weekend to research, film, and photograph another article. Getting some instruction and seat time in the IS 350 F-Sport, LC 500, and RC F! Feel free to ping me with any questions.
Having been a 2021 IS350 owner for 6 months, I agree with your review. I loved the car even though I did have the base model and felt my car was lacking in several areas, not just being underpowered.
In December, I had the opportunity to trade the 2021 IS350 in for a 2022 Premium IS500 and haven’t looked back. Everything I felt was lacking in the IS350, the IS500 has remedied, but we can save that for another day.
thanks for the review.
I think it's a bit strange to say an over-300-horsepower sedan is underpowered, but it's the 2020's now, when low-end torque is everything.
If I compare the IS 350 to my wife's 330i, sure, the low-end grunt in the 330i is fun to use. However, I can't help but be a little underwhelmed if I go full-throttle in the BMW. It feels like there's going to be a lot more power than there is. I know the 3er is probably the quicker car, at least below about 80 MPH, but in the Lexus, I feel rewarded for finding a chance to rev out the V-6.
Having said that, the IS 500 gives you that same reward, but with more effortless around-town driving due to the displacement it has.
Super quick question my car is currently at 15,000 to 16,000 miles and I know it needs a scheduled service.
I was wondering how much does the service cost and what do they check and do for the service?
Thank you guys for the answers in advance.
Welcome! It mostly depends on what the previous service(s) were. If it has been nearly a year or 10,000 miles since the last oil change, you'll need to do that. Otherwise, every 5,000 miles, you are going in for service. Every 10,000, you do an oil change, and all other services are either inspections or minor fluid top-ups. You can view the full service schedule for your car at drivers.lexus.com.
The cost varies dealer-to-dealer. I've never paid out of pocket for one of the 5,000-mile services, so I am not sure.
Thank you! The last service was done in December of last year 2022 before I bought the car (used). When I bought it the car had 10,000 miles. So I believe this 15,000 miles service is more of an inspection?
They'll balance the tires and inspect everything. They can't rotate the tires, so 5,000 mile services are limited. Can't imagine it will cost you more than $100.
As a guy in his 50s this sort of comment always makes me laugh. This car is faster than most Porsches Ferraris and Corvettes were when I was growing up, cars that were thought to be too dangerous to let a teenager drive.
Well, the 350 engine they're using (I know they changed codes), is still roughly the same engine from 2008. As a GS and IS owner, this engine is solid, but incrementally adding a few horsepower every few years is what we get. Definitely wasn't underpowered in 2008, but 2023....maybe.
