To be fair, the G70 3.3T can also keep up with the S4, C43AMG and the M340i. That's how Hyundai pitched the 3.3T G70 - a mid-performance sports sedan at normal sedan prices.

In that case, resale value should be important to you. Lexus/Toyota keep their resale value better don't they?

Lexus brand is more prestigious than Hyundai (Genesis was introduced 5 years ago so I'm not going to even count it as it's own brand). Toyota / Lexus reliability beats out all car brands. But, I have noticed people who own Germans who ****** on Lexus owners saying "Lexus is a Toyota". Can't imagine what they would say about a Hyundai.
That being said, Hyundai is known for quality control issues, reliability being terrible. Everyone who is supporting Hyundai, do you see any 2 year old + Hyundais on the rode? I certainly don't. I don't see any old Elantras, Sonatas, etc -- but I do see old Corollas, Camrys, IS, ES, GS, etc. Let's not compare apples and oranges, because that's what this is. Lexus is a fruit while Hyundai is McDonald's fast food.
To stay on topic-- the 3 year old IS looks way better than that G70. If one really cares about power, you can pop a supercharger into a 350 (buying a 2015-2020 used IS + supercharger) which would probably be more reliable and cheaper than a 2021 G70.

The V8 is better for sure but will probably be $10-15k more expensive comparatively equipped. Genesis is the value brand in the luxury segment so they have to undercut on price to move units. I don't know about the 3.3T reliability but I've run a Stinger in my IS350. He annihilated me.

All that tier level luxury is just magazines/marketing talk, there is no official authority on that. Just drive the car you like and stop thinking brandA is better than brandA, all these cars are mass produced and will lose 50-70% of their value after 5 years.

I considered the G80 and G70 pretty seriously, the main issue is not reliability. Hyundai/Kia reliability is approaching Toyota level now, the unreliable view is outdated. They also offer a ridiculous warranty, which can be transferred in used cars if they're CPO. The outdated brand perception actually makes it a very good value.
The main issue for me is the dealership. For one, the nearest dealership to me is an hour away, and for many it's even worse. Secondly, many are still stuck on the Hyundai/Kia mentality, trying to deny warranty claims or do half-assed jobs to save a penny. If I have an issue with the car, even with a good warranty I might have to drive an hour one way multiple times to get it addressed. That's not a luxurious experience, and it's the main reason I ended up staying with Lexus.

Motortrend just did a comparison for the entry level luxury sedan class. The G70 did very well vs. the competition even against the mighty 3 series as it ranked 3rd in the entire class. They ranked the new IS350 10th but Motortend doesn't account for things like reliability. interesting read.

lol. The Q50 is garbage. I don't think they were fair to the IS350. Its better than some of the other cars on that list for sure. I would have put the 3 series ahead of most of their list too. The A4 is an awesome car but the driving itself is blander than the IS350 and the 3 series.

and they're never fair with Toyota or Lexus in general for the most part. Reviewers look for immediate performance impressions, glitz and glamor, and NEW things. If this was truly at the top of everyone's essentials list than Toyota wouldn't be the #1 car mfg. That alone tells you Reviewers are biased and missing some of the big picture.
