Default Retrofitting the rain sensor

Hello!

Dealer ****ed me up and I didn't notice my IS 300h 2017 doesn't have a rain sensor as an option. And it drives me mad because I lack this feature.

Is it possible to retrofit it?

I can buy this https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-IS300h-Indicator-Wiper-Stalk-Switch-89245-30130-2016/193691291570?_trkparms=aid%3D1110002%26algo%3DSPLICE.SOI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20171010182220%26meid%3D23a901fe2d7741bf87c95fccbeda072e%26pid%3D100889%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D193691299976%26itm%3D193691291570%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DSellersOtherItemsV2%26brand%3DLexus&_trksid=p2332490.c100889.m5204

After that I could buy OEM rain sensor and attach it on my windshield and then plug it with this indicator wiper stalk. Will it work?

Short answer no. You will need that, the sensor, assuming you have the connection needed tucked away in your headliner, you will need that as well. Now, if you have all that, you will then need the windshield that allows the rain sensors lights to detect the moisture on the windshield, one with the square for mounting the sensor. To best of my knowledge, no programming would be required beyond that.

Well buying sensor and that lever is not expensive. You can get that on Ebay for 200 bucks. The electrician can wire everything together. As for those black dots on the windshield...IMO they can get removed. I think this aint mission impossible and not an expensive one.

Assuming your Auto Wipers are installed like ours in North America, as we don't have the IS300h, then you will need to add several wires and possibly the windshield...in addition to the sensor and switch.
There's 2 wires that run from the Map Light to the Rain Sensor...and a third wire than runs from the Wiper switch to the Rain sensor (that one will be a little harder to install).
In addition there are 2 wires that run from the Wiper switch to the Steering Sensor, and then from then from the Steering sensor to the Brake Actuator under the hood.

In North America Lexus sells 3 windshields for the IS:
1. No Auto wipers
2. Auto Wipers Cold spec
3. Auto Wipers without Cold spec

While I can't say for sure that the windshield is absolutely necessary, the fact that Lexus actually has 3 windshields for one car makes me think you will need to replace the windshield as well...it's just not about cleaning of the black dots.
You could always ask you local dealer which windshield would be the correct one if your car had Auto Wipers.
