Default 2021 IS300 front speakers

Would swapping out the front dash speakers be a worthwhile upgrade, I’m good with the sound but was wondering if it could be better. Thanks

Opinions vary, but I think a simple upgrade to speakers are worthwhile. My 2016 CT benefitted from all the speakers being replaced, and they wernt anything fancy. Although you likely have better speakers than I had.

A sub is a good way to improve sound, also doesn't take anything too nice to get improvement. OEM sound systems are pretty underwhelming.

Truth! I'm in the 2021 IS300 AWD F-SPORT (which wasn't available with the ML system here in Canada) and the audio is awful IMO. The lack of even a small sub tasks the crummy mid-range speakers with way too much low end. The rear speakers are even worse. Wish Lexus sold a plug and play sub that could fit into the spare tire rim or something like it. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It's a shame ... literally the only thing I don't like about my IS.

Adding the P300-12 sub to my 15 really improved things for me.

What did you use for signal from the head unit? Line level converter? Or is there an OEM sub connection that isn't being used?

Sorry, had a shop install it. I'm novice to it.

This thread might help answer some, from #21

Called Crutchfield and they recommended Rockford Fosgate for the corner dash speakers, he mentioned 6.5 in rear doors but not much else as the car is new and they
didn't have much info on it, those corner grills pop off real easy so might give it a go but not sure if I'm wasting my time or not.

I changed the front dash speakers to kenwoods. They cost like ~$30 easy to install and seems like they made some difference, but biggest change was with the P300-12 sub.

Nice, so you have the non ML set up, I know there are 3 speakers in the dash and 4 in the doors so there must be 3 in the back shelf, I have no clue what they are. Did you remove a speaker in the rear shelf to add your sub,

I agree, stock stereo is underwhelming. I will be looking to do something in my 2021

You can definitely purchase after market plug and play, but would be a small box in your trunk. You tap into the amp in the trunk, and the sound is night and day.

I’m a newbie so not sure what I should be looking for but I get it should just be tapped into the existing amp, sounds not too complicated. Thanks for your insight.
