2016 IS 300 Base model wheel & tire rubbing questions
Hello everyone! I'm wondering if anyone runs 18x8.5 +40 rims on their 3IS for a square setup? I'm pretty sure they would work on the back, but I'm worried they will rub in the front. I'm on stock suspension and don't plan to change that. I have no experience buying rims and I'm basically totally lost, so any help would be seriously appreciated! I think the tires I would need to have are 225/40 R18, and those would go on the 18x8.5 +40mm offset rims.

I'm running exactly that!
18x8.5 +40 offset all the way around.
I did this wheel setup first, no issues, then I even lowered it on RSR down springs and still no issue. You will be good with that setup!
Edit: for rubber I run 255/35/18 (what was oem on rear) on all 4 and everything is fine

Holy cow!! Thankyou Thankyou soo much for the reply!!! You are seriously the best!!! So 255 all around huh, and no rubbing or anything?! Would i be able to go smaller like 225, or would that not look right? Im trying to go as OEM looking as possible, just squared, with some black wheels instead of the silver.
The OEM tire sizes are:
225/40/18 Front
255/35/18 Rear
Reason I mention this is because when I first got my 18x8.5 wheels, with the purpose of having a squared setup so I could rotate tires, the tires on my car at that time were damn near new, so I threw the tires onto the wheels, with the plan once they wore out to get same sized tires all around.
Both fit the wheel just fine. The 225 will have a bit of stretch but not too much to be dangerous, whereas 255 will be meaty but flush
I have since gone 255 all the way around and no rubbing issues.
I have a picture of what 225 on the front (stretched) and 255 on the rear looks like from one of my older pictures, you can see the stretch on the front (225) and the meaty 255 on the rear, so you could go either, or 245/35/18 is very close in total diameter as well and would in between stretch and meaty

[QUOTE=whoismiked;11085033]I am by no means an expert when it comes to tire and wheel sizes, but luckily I have hands on experience with these sizes, so I have an answer for this question too!

HOLY MOLY!! Thats one sexy IS!!! 😍 Thankyou so so soo much for your help, now i feel safe and confident!! Im thinking ill go for the 245/35!! That sounds like my best option! I like the beefy 255, but just a little less meat sounds perfect for my situation!! I can't thank you enough, seriously!!
On a side note, may i ask how you got the window trim black? I need rain guards badly, but i wont get them installed until i get rid of that chrome or its just gunna look ridiculous IMO. Did you do the front grill chrome as well? Man thats a nice ride you got there!!
P.S. where'd you get your rain guards, they look great!

I used black vinyl wrap on my window trim. On my front grill, I tried to wrap it, it was a pain, I ended up just masking everything off and painted it flat black. If my window trim ever starts to look rough or peel, I'll likely paint those too.
As far as my window visors, they actually came with a chrome strip across the top meant to match the OEM chrome window trim, but I just wrapped that little chrome trim on those before installing them, they are made by "WellVisors"
