Chrome delete... reliable professionals near Crystal Lake, Illinois?
Hey guys,
I am battling whether or not to do this Chrome delete myself. Honestly I don't want somebody running a knife all over my car.
Honestly I would rather a professional do it but I want to know that they use knifeless tape where it needs to be used.
Ugh, I really don't trust anyone LOL
anyone else battling the same thing?

if you're talking door chrome trim, you don't use knifeless tape on that. knife only. if you take your time and prep and know what you're doing, not too much risk with the knife, providing you use a proper and sharp knife. if you want to mitigate risk, you can pop off the strips at the base of the window and wrap them off the car. i would prep the doors with tape first though as my preferred method. wrap them on the car. maybe practice on an older car if you have access to one. but i definitely would not be paying a "professional" to do the job since it's easy DIY. Watch plenty of youtube videos first though.

Depends on the particular piece you're doing. Knifeless tape has its place, more so for complex areas or patterns. Not much complexity involved in chrome trim around the doors. also good/proper knifeless tape is more expensive than the wrap itself, so go ahead and knock yourself out. also you can slice clean through your finger with one wrong slip of the knifeless tape. down to your bone. so careful.
even if you were to use knifeless tape, that in and of itself is a skill to learn and you'd be re-purchasing new vinyl if you don't get it 100% right every time.
Been doing this stuff over 12-15 years. you can try it though.
