Default IS 300 2021 Chrome Wheel Curb Rash

Hey guys,

Does anyone know what color of touch up paint (preferably from Dupli Color) that I can use to restore the curb rash on the wheel below?

Thanks!

That doesn't look like "Chrome" as stated in the thread title... In fact, I would say it is more of a dark silver or gray. I believe owners of prior-year F Sport models used something called Hyper Silver for their wheels, but perhaps someone can chime in and confirm.

Arentz is right, it's called hyper silver (or hyper - something), I wouldn't use touch up paint on that. You damaged the metal finish, it'll just look like you have paint over a jagged edge. Just go to a rim repair shop and they'll fix it, it's around $125-150 depending on location

Thanks guys! appreciate it a lot for quick replies

If I were to just drive with it (I live in Toronto, Canada so we have so much snow here...which means a lotta salt during the winter...), what would be the impact of that on the wheels?

thanks!

I believe the color is called phantom grey pearl.
you can buy Dupli-Color ATY1614 Phantom Grey Pearl touch up paint and fix it.

That pic doesn't depict the wheel as the smoke chrome finish, like the 350 but it may be. If it is indeed the smoke chrome, it can't be touched up. My wife curbed one of hers as well, took it to a professional that the local Lexus dealer recommended and he said it has to be rechromed. Which is very expensive, so I will probably just put aftermarket wheels on hers.

Musicdeo77...I know the type of wheels we have here in Canada. As others have said, for significant damage, touch up paint wont do a great job unless you are not picky. I will write later as I have a touch up paint at home that blends perfectly with our wheels in canada...

I had the same issue with one of my wheels (2014 IS350 FSPORT). Took it to a rim repair shop and within 90 min, they sanded it down so that I couldn’t tell there had been deep gashes. Repainted it to an exact match, placed the wheel under a light to dry/set the paint, and that was it. That was 18 months ago and there has been no issue with paint flaking or fading. We have harsh winters with heavy road salt use, so it does get punished.

$150 out the door with a 10 year warranty. I would not Duplicolor it, even if you do your own work. Pay the extra and have it done right. You’ll be glad you did down the road.

I agree - That kind of damage should be repaired by a professional repair shop. I would only use touch up paint on minor damage (like small pits)

That is a good point. And, to be fair, when I managed to scratch my wheels, I had a professional do it as well. The Lexus dealership recommended someone, and they did a bang-up job. $125 USD per wheel. I could still tell where the damage was if I got on my knees and really looked for it, but it was smoothed-out. Anyway. That'd be my first choice.
