HELP with installing after market sub with ML audio
i have a 2017 IS350 with ML audio.
I have an amp and sub. The amp has high level speak input. It's the Alpine MRV M500.
What i want to know is if i simply disconnect the factory SUB, and tap into the speaker speaker and connect it to the amp, will that work fine? or do i need to tap into the front speakers or something from the ML amp then connect to the aftermarket amp?
I been reading a lot on the forums but it's confusing.

On the left side of the trunk, there is a recessed area where you might be able to hide that amp. It's the same as the right side where the OEM amp is. Just two 10mm bolts, IIRC.
Otherwise, here is a good DIY.

Once u go above a certain volume, the bass reduces due to some dynamic volume control.
im hoping someone with a ML setup can advise which is the correct wires to tap into where i won't face that issue.

thanks man, just read through that entire thread and it seems for the ML there is an issue tapping to the wire the suggested.

Tap your hi/lo converter into the factory subs' speaker wire. Straight forward.

This is what I use on all my cars due to the Factory volume bass reducing system. Its purpose is to compensate for that very reason.

Does this 3IS lower the bass at high volumes? @Sasnuke
If anything the bass is being increased, not decreased, but also so is everything else being increased.

Okay, so I would like to update eveyrone and state the following for anyone with a ML system.
if u are doing a sub upgrade, u can’t tap into the rear speakers nor the front. Those are all high crossed over and u won’t get any bass.
u need to tap into PIN 6 And 21. which is a gray and blue wire. Gray wire is positive and blue is negative. That’s the factory subwoofer speaker wires
if u are using line out converter or plugging directly into ur high level speaker input, just tap into those two wires.
few other notes, those tapped wires already crossed over at 80hz so on ur amp, just set to 80 and U’re good. On my amp, I barely turned up my gain, it’s like 15%. Also, if u need more bass, u can simply increase the bass level from the sound setting of the car. It will increase the voltage sent to the sub. Also there is no bass roll off issue as u increase the volume. It plays loud all the way to max volume
with the ML and an aftermarket sub, the sound is insane now. My ears r hurting atm. I’m running a alpine MRV M500 amp (500 rms) with an alpine SW12D4 (600rms) sub.

no that link is for NON-ML audio.
With the ML audio the pinouts are different.
I originally tried it with that link's setup and used the wires suggested in that link and i wasn't getting much bass. I then tapped into the subwoofer wires and then it worked
