Unhappy 2021 IS300 AWD FSPORT Winter Wheels and Tires

I just got a new 2021 IS300 AWD FSPORT with 265/35R19 rear tires and 235/40R19 front tires. I live in Ontario and the there is heavy snow in the winter. When I want to the tire shop, the sales told me that my car cannot use 17" rims for my snow tire because there is no space for the breaks. Is is true that the 2021 IS300 cannot use 17" rims with snow tires? Also, how is the original all-season Bridgestone tires perform in the snow?

The brake calipers on the F Sport are quite large, but in some cases, 17" rims will fit. The main concern is offset. You would need to make sure the wheels, mainly their spokes, will clear the calipers.

I think it may be a touch smaller than the stock tires in terms of tire diameter, so you may need to go with a 235/50R17 or 225/55R17. Try using this website: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

I'd also point out that the tire size obviously depends on the wheel or vice versa.

Really, the fitment on a 17 inch wheel is going to depend on the wheel offset. You want a decent amount of negative offset so that the wheel spokes are in front of the caliper.

Go to kaltires or wheelsforless.
they’ll have 17” rims that’ll clear the calliper. I have them for my winter square setup.

Welcome to the forum!

As suggested above, the 17 inch tire size you want to aim for is 225/55/17, providing the rim width is between 6-8 inches (which it will likely be 8 inches wide).
For winter I use a set of 2IS 17 inch rims, which will clear the brakes as they were designed to fit any 2IS, including those with the larger brakes found on the 2021 IS.
Outside of that you will need to find a 17 inch set that the spokes clear the front calipers as mentioned above, which is possible, and hopefully the tire shop knows which ones will.

Any specific reason you're going 17"? I have the exact same car as you and went for an 18x8 +35 with a 235/45/18 winter tire.

General rule of thumb for winter wheels is to have the narrowest tire for the best traction.
If you can safely shrink the rim to a 17 inch then you can fit a narrower tire, hence better traction.

Also, the taller sidewall helps with the inevitable winter potholes.

The OEM all seasons are not that good in the snow IMO, they harden up and your braking distances will increase. I went onto WheelWiz and they have some 17" that should fit.

If my stock sizing is the below:
2022 Lexus is300 fsport 2
FRONT: P235/40R19
REAR: P265/35R19

Would the below wheel and tire sizing fit? Looking to check sizing for potential winter tires and wheels:
Wheel size: 18x8.5 +35
Tire size: 235/45/18
