Default Bulb help please!

2014 is 250. I purchased 4 amber LED turn signal lamps, to replace my tungsten bulbs (why these are the only non-LED exterior lights from Lexus, is beyond me, but that’s a different thread). I got them from iJDM Toys, who’s web site says is a direct replacement for all four corners. As I replaced each bulb, I tested each for operation…all good. Then during clean up, I noticed the front bulbs were dual filament. 🤔

And sure enough, the front pig tails have 3 wires going to the bulbs. So I put one of those bulbs back in, and confirmed the smaller filament, was the turn signal.

Now here’s the rub…I could not get the other filament to light up at all. It’s not a parking or running light, and I could not get it to illuminate night or day, regardless of light stalk position.

So I’m thinking Lexus had a “standard” wiring harness, but on my year/model, the circuit simply wasn’t used?

Can anybody confirm this? Sasnuke, I believe you you might have the service manual for our year? You got anything on this?

Thanks!

It's the same on my car.
When I turn the stalk to Taillight, there is a small light in the headlights that illuminates...it's on the side of the projector for the HID light bulb housing.
The turn signal bulb is a few inches behind that and is a large amber bulb with 2 elements.
Only one element lights up for the turn signal...the other element does nothing.

I checked the bulb online at Sylvania's website and it states it's a 7444NA bulb...from the pic you can see it's amber with 2 elements.
In the wiring diagram the front turn signals only have 2 wires each...Green and White/Black for the Driver's side, and Red and White/Black for the Passenger side...which would indicate only one element is in use.

Hey, thanks for the reply, but your pic did not post, but that’s fine. My car does indeed have 3 wires on each pigtail in the front, and the bulbs were indeed 2 element.

So you are confirming my theory, that it was a “standard” factory harness, but our vehicles do not use the second element, ever, correct?

Sorry...should have clarified I meant the pic on the Sylvania website of the bulbs.
So far I haven't found a use for the second element. It would have been perfect for a marker light, but as mentioned in my previous post that's already on the side of the projector.
I'm confident is saying the second element is not used. Seems like a waste of a bulb, but I'll keep checking to see if I find anything.

I’m not surprised. It’s the same on my other car’s rear turn signals, a two element bulb is used, but only one element is powered.
Maybe it was easier/cheaper to just specify a brake/taillight bulb for fitment as a single use? Or maybe a single element was bright enough to meet the requirements, so no need to power both?
