Find number ECU/ECM
Hello guys, in France we have a Lexus Forum, and some times we come in this forum to learn a little bit more about our IS. We have a thread about convert the car to ethanol, but we need to find the ECU/ECM number. Because we know there is a lot of different number ECU for the LEXUS IS between 2013 and 2016. Do you know how we can find this number ?
Edit (thanks Sasnuke) 12/01/2021

If you provide the dealer the VIN they can tell you the part number for the ECU.
If you don't/can't ask the dealer, then the absolutely most reliable way is to the remove the ECU.
The ECU will have a parts label on it with the ECU part number, then you will know what the ECU is for your vehicle 100%.
You could start a thread on that forum cataloging the ECU's per year and what model they belong to...I'm not sure how many different models of IS per year you have.

Exactly my dealer told me he found my ECU part Number with the VIN and it is 53S30 (it s the case for all AVE30 to 2015 August to 2016 october), but a engine engineer is connected to my OBD car three month ago and told me my ECU number is 53N50
I would like to read directly on my ECU car, but I'm a afraid to create an issue !!!
If there is guys who know their own ECU part number I can edit the first one to add each ECU per period.

I'm gonna say the dealer was correct.
NOTE: These are only some of the available Engine Computer part numbers. There are still several more depending on year and vehicle trim level.

In Canada where I am we refer to the IS trim levels differently that in the USA.
So I can only imagine in France they may even have a different way of referring to the trim levels of each model than the USA and Canada.
You may need to have the France forum members check which computer number they have and then post what model they have...that might be the only way to link them together.

It's really depends how the ECU is situated in the vehicle.
It may be possible to see the label with the part number without disconnecting the battery or ECU.
Unfortunately I've never seen an IS300h in person, so I have no idea how the ECU is positioned in the car.
I would say try to take apart as least as possible to access the label with the part number...try to keep it simple.

In that case I would say only disconnect the 12V battery and unplug the ECU.
I wonder if the bracket holding it could be unbolted and just lift the entire ECU upwards far enough to read the label.
