Default Tires

I have a 2014 IS 350. Time for new (second) set of tires at 67,000 miles. My current set is Bridgestone Turanza. The front tires are 225/40R 88W M+S; the rear tires are 255/35R18 90W M+S. The treadwear rating is 260 and the temperature A. I don't drive much - the car is a kept in my condo garage and driven when necessary. But I think an upgrade is in order. I have read the comments about Turanzas on the board. Recommendations? Thanks in advance. (PS - This car had been perfect since day one. No problems whatsoever).

It mostly depends on the type of tire you want. As far as summer performance tires, it seems a lot of people like the PS4S

Do you want to stick with all-seasons or go summers?

When it comes to all-season tires, a lot of users on the forum as well as in my local Lexus meet-up group like the Continentals, whether it be the ExtremeContact DWS06 or the newer DWS06 Plus. Those are a sort of can't-go-wrong choice as they are more performance-oriented than most all-season tires while providing good winter performance. Also, you save a bit of money compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4. However, I would recommend the Michelins if you value absolute grip and driving feel.

I also really liked the Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate tires when I had them on my GTI. I was considering getting them for my IS once the Bridgestones are worn down. Anyway, they were sporty-feeling tires with plenty of grip, but they also weren't overly loud. Ride quality was firm but not harsh. They transmitted less bangs and thuds into the cabin compared to the Continental ControlContact Sport tires that were on the car before.

As for summers, of course the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a favorite if you are going to be driving spiritedly and want something grippy and feelsome. The Continental ExtremeContact Sport is a good option if you want to save money. I've driven a couple of cars on that tire, and I will say though it wasn't overtly sporty, the tires were relatively quiet and stayed out of the way. They were grippy and composed for sure.

Depends on what you want to do!
