Door speaker mounting adapters
I've upgraded my dash speakers and found the sound improved drastically. I'd now like to upgrade my rear door speakers as I find the sound very forward biased. Which adapter can I use to mount 6.5" coaxials in the door? Also, is that the best size speaker to fit?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I did the same upgrade you’re mulling over. I got everything from Crutchfield. I have a 2014 ES350, with premium sound, no ML and without NAV. I installed Polk DB652 in the 4 doors, I did Polk DB402 in the 2 dash corners. I was amazed at the improvement, the rear speakers were so small, as far as the magnet and cone are concerned. By the time you source everything on Amazon or eBay I think Crutchfield is the cheaper and better option. The adapters were included as well as the wiring adapters. I kind of shopped for a while on their website, then after a few weeks a 25% off sale appeared in an email and I did it then, well worth the money, the 6.5 inch speakers in the doors mad a huge difference.

Thanks a lot. Unfortunately I'm not in US so Crutchfield isn't an option. I was hoping to source locally or order from Amazon US as they handle the import and deliver to my door.
I'm currently running Alpine SPG-10C2 in the dash. I tried a cheaper Sony 4" speaker in the center channel and I felt that it actually sounded worse than the stock center speaker. I thought I might have had the phase wrong, but I opened it up and found that its surround had been crimped by the speaker grill. So now I'm just running the Alpines in the LR dash channels.
My next step is to add Alpine Type G 6.5" to my rear doors. Just need to know which adapter works for the facelift IS200/300.
PS: I'm still reaaaalllly disappointed by how terrible the 3is audio is compared to 2is. We had a proper, occupant-facing 3 ways in the 2is. Instead, 3is uses windshield facing dash speakers that probably cause all sorts of frequency/phase/timing issues.

Thanks, that does help a lot. I previously tried to find adapters on Metra's site but their fitment tool returned no results for my car.
I just tried it on Crutchfield and the Metra adapter is shown as compatible with the 3IS.

One more thing, do you have advice or links to a guide on how to remove the door panels? I have a pry tool set, but I'm still worried that I'll break a clip or similar.
