Default radar hardwire gone bad

Welp, I attempted to hardwire my radar detector today and now the car is saying pre collision system malfunction, headlight system malfunction, etc. Guess I'll take it to the dealership tomorrow.

Had the same issue, which fuse did you use under the driver side foot panel to run the power?

Its best to use a t-tap, this is the one i purchased two years ago:
Amazon Amazon

make sure the fuse is plugged back in, clear codes using techstream/scanner and youll be good to go.

I didn't use a fuse I did a mirror tap. The dealership has no clue what is going on now, I'm in a loaner. They think there is a leak in the windshield? Oh, and the climate system quit working. The lead tech said he was going to look at it tomorrow.

maybe you blew out a fuse? does the mirror still have power?
strange that the climate system isn't working - i literally had the same issue but it was due to the fuse being removed. Leak in the windshield is an odd diagnosis, keep us posted.

Yeah the mirror had power. The diagnosis surprised the hell out of me.

So it took 2 days before the lead technician actually looked at it, and it turned out to be a fuse. This is after the other technician tried to blame it on the glass company that replaced the windshield, had the car transported there just to have said glass company send the car back, and continue working on it for 2 days.

I'm going to attempt hardwiring my radar detector & dashcam again, but this time I guess I'll disconnect the battery first.

What’s up with people not unplugging their battery before doing electrical work? What are you guys thinking? That’s the first step. If you skip that you shouldn’t be working on your own car.

welp, I disconnected the battery then did the mirror tap, and something shorted again when I reconnected the battery and started the car. Now to figure out which fuse blew and get a different mirror tap cable.

I used this as reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-detector.html

Glad you got it fixed.

Don't take what people say on the forum too personally, people say weird/aggressive stuff to me all the time.

Yeah I don't take anything said on forums or social media personally, I view it kind of like ThunderDome.
