IS350 transmission failure post supercharger install
Just watched a few of his vids, very interesting stuff since the 350 motor is carried onto the 3IS (I understand his is the 2IS but same drivetrain). This guy spent thousands on the supercharger, then he had his transmission altered (with some springs upgrade and transmission fluid change?), and even after that it failed. This guy's IS only had around 70k on the dash when he got this done and claimed the old transmission 'wasn't taken care of that well'.. that's only 70k miles and some people on this forum haven't changed their transmission fluid within that time.
He, then, bought a used transmission from a GS350 and says it shifts better.
I had 2 questions:
1) Is the IS350 and GS350 engine the same, if so is the transmission the same?
2) Wouldn't it have been a better idea to just purchase a faster car, such as an ISF instead of going through this trouble money wise?
($7000 supercharger, RR racing install (generous because it definitely takes a long time to install $750?), preventative maintenance + parts (generous @ $500 as well?), $1000 GS350 used transmission ($500?) comes out to $9750 but let's say ~$10,000.

1. Yes and Yes
2. Yes (but you have to account for the 'can you build it' vs 'can you just buy it' argument)
The one member on here with the twin turbo 3IS making stupid power still runs the stock tranny...so I'm thinking the guy in the vid just had a bum tranny to start with...and modding it didn't help...or the mods fudged it.
