New IS350s without moonroof?
I’ve kind of had my eye out for an IS350 without the moon roof. Has anyone seen one for sale without that option, or am I wasting my time looking for one?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have yet to see one myself. But I briefly recall my sales person saying he saw one. But the same sales man also told me the roadside assistance on a new car is good for 10 years... Unfortunately custom orders are suspended at the moment and even if you ask for a certain combination, the final say lies with the factory and they will likely reject an "odd" order.

I just picked up a 2022 IS350 F-Sport without moonroof so they are definitely out there. In all my years owning Lexus, I was surprised to see one optioned without.

Spotted a used rwd one that had everything except for the moonroof and the 360 parking cameras. Pretty sweet. Right color (for me) too.

^^ I agree - They are rare!! I am actually surprised to admit that I am actually happy my IS 500 doesn't have the sunroof, I am actually appreciating this a bit more each day. Mind you, I live in a northern climate so for me, it was more an esthetic thing.

Rant time: Sunroofs/moonroofs suck. They’re loud, prone to leaking, they admit solar radiation, they rattle, and they and add weight precisely where you don’t want it. You can leave it open by accident and get water, or worse yet, cats in your car! CATS! And for what? There’s almost never a solution when I’d use the thing.
I would pay extra to not have a moonroof.

I will say, not all sunroofs are created the same. In my VW GTI, the sunroof would start making noise at the slightest provocation. I staved off these noises with silicone grease, but it was a routine maintenance item - like, every few months. There were a few noises I could not seem to eliminate. In my wife's 2021 BMW 330i, which only has about 13k miles, it's been making sunroof noises for quite some time. However, in both my 2021 and 2016 ISes, I've never had any flavor of issue with their sunroofs. No noise, no leaks, nothing to complain about. It's partly good luck on my part, I'm sure, but I'm noticing a pattern of German vehicles having sunroof issues - no so much with our Lexus cars.

I’m partially kidding. The one in my GS has been rock solid too. I think problems do crop up here and there but Lexus seems to generally be doing it right. That said, if I’m going to go through the trouble of upgrading to a newer car it’s not gonna have a sunroof.

Guess I’ll be contrary here, as I’ll not buy a car without a sun roof (ok, my convertible doesn’t count), as there’s no better way to quickly cool down a car that’s been baking in the sun, than to open the top and let that hot air out.
Plus, on a hot day I’d rather leave the top open a crack than the side windows in a public parking lot.

They're definitely not very common - my local dealer had a few come through without, but they typically were base 350s or with very little options. I special ordered mine without one, which seems to be very unusual with the triple beams, navi, and AWD. Talk to your local dealers and see if one is willing to give up an allocation spot to get you one without it - I would imagine someone can do it if you're open on a few of the other options at play.

I too would not even consider a car without a moonroof, particularly one of a premium make so I agree with the poster a few posts above.
Adds weight where you don't want it... sure... technically I guess. But we're talking about a 4,000 lb mass-produced street cruiser with a slushy soppy gearbox (compared to actual race/competition hardware), tall greenhouse, glass (which both provide weight where quote "you don't want it") and 75-pound seats, 8 airbags, etc etc etc.. Lets face it none of us are competing 10/10 on the nurburgring in our 3,500-lb - 4,000-lb metal street boxes and certainly not for prize money.
If you prefer one look over another that's one thing (even then i'd argue that's silly but ok), but fractionally added weight shouldn't be a consideration for a heavy slushy street car.

Different strokes for different folks at the end of the day - I'm just glad Lexus doesn't lump it into a package and force you to have it (unless we look at the US IS500).
