Winter tires

Michelin X-Ice (whatever the current generation is).
Have used them on 4 cars, and been very satisfied (northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin).
Running a square setup for the winter tires, on smaller 17” wheels with a narrower width (7.5”).
Smaller wheels give you more sidewall to better absorb potholes, and a narrower width will cut through the snow and slush better. Been doing that for over 40 years with good results.

Lucky you. Studded tires were outlawed around here almost 50 years ago. I still remember pulling the studs out with a pliers.
