Default Brake Dust prevention

What do you all use to prevent brake dust on rims.

I’ve been using Armorall Outlast. Seems to be okay in the sense that I can easily wipe off but I do that regularly and rims were recently redone (stripped, powder coated, etc).

I’ve seen some products (Chemical Guys Hydro Spin) that are ceramic coatings that claim to prevent fo 6-1w2 months.

Are you using the F Sport pads? If yes, it's inevitable since they shed when you start braking as a "self cleaning" sense to always have that sporty bite. You may ceramic coat it or treat it with something that helps you clean them easier but things will still stick onto the coating as you drive.
Another suggestion is to switch to other brake pads that don't give off a lot of dust, there are a lot of people on CL that has switched to Akebono as an alternative to this. I prefer the performance and bite so I opted for Powerstop Carbon Ceramic which gives best of both worlds.

I have some Armor All Brake Dust Repellant that works pretty well on the wife's 330i. I haven't tried it on the IS for fear of it messing with the chrome wheels, but it's perfectly harmless on our 330i's painted wheels.

I added a layer of ceramic coating on the wheels, brake dust still coats the wheels but a hit with the garden hose rinses it away. Sometimes a hard rain cleans it up 80%

Which one do you use? And how often do you apply it?

Any ceramic coating will work the same.

Not sure if you're asking me, but I use the Armor All whenever I wash the car. I wash it twice a month on average.

No, it's not. I was talking about this:

Again, it's not.

You could use this, or you could do a ceramic coating. They're not the same thing. If the Armor All didn't work out for you, I would have to suggest doing a ceramic coat on the wheels.

This is why Lexus switched to more gunmetal, black wheel options. This was a HUGE issue on the 3GS. Absolutely hated the brakes on that car. Now, let's just make the wheels darker so you don't notice the dust.

If I am being honest, the brakes on mine are not nearly as dust-prone as my GTI, GLI, or the wife's 330i. The 330i in particular has gloss-black wheels, but they start to look brown when the brake dust builds up.

To your point, the dark-chrome wheels on the 350 look great from a few feet away even when they're dirty - though they have a mirror-like shine when clean!
