Lexus and Toyota offer two distinct options/accessories to protect door edges: door edge film and door edge guards.

Door Edge Film by 3M $100 currently but was $95 on '24 models.

Lexus Door Edge Film by 3MTM helps protect your vehicle's vertical door edges from dings and paint chips. Created from multiple layers containing UV protection to help prevent yellowing, the door edge film helps maintain a like-new appearance.

Door Edge Guards $160 currently.

Lexus Door Edge Guards help protect your vehicle's vertical door edges from dings and paint chips. They are color-matched to the exterior original paint for luxurious styling and custom fabricated for a precise fit.

My '21 Avalon Touring came from the factory with the door edge guards. They still looked good at three years, when I traded for my '24 ES350, which came from the factory with door edge film. The clear film is essentially thick Scotch tape and is less noticeable than the guards but is still easily visible. This is the first car I have owned with the film, so I do not know how it holds up but it looks OK when new. I have had the OEM guards on several Camrys and had no complaints.

The prices are from the Lexus website and are for the ES350. Not sure if the prices vary for other models.

OK, so that's my bad. On the more recent years, it's clear film, but it was a color-matched vinyl or plastic piece before. Interesting.

edit: Wow, I had no idea they STILL sell the more rigid kind. Interesting.
