Torsen LSD Break-In Fluid Change?
So at this point we've all established I am OCD / Crazy, but this next question might be the tip of the Iceberg. I'm at 12,500 on my 2022 IS350 w/ DHP and I have already scheduled my next service for the end of March since I will be doing a 1500 mile road trip at the beginning of April. At this service, which I expect to be at 13,000-13,500 miles when I go for it, I am definitely doing an oil change (my 4th one since I am doing 5K OCIs and I did a break in one at 750 miles) but I was also torn on whether or not to do a fluid change on my Torsen LSD. I know that Lexus USA says its a lifetime fluid, and I believe Lexus UAE says it's a 100,000 mile fluid, but that just seems very long for any fluid. Our other vehicle, an AWD Highlander Platinum, calls for diff and transfer case fluid changes at 30K, which is in line with what I have heard in terms of fluid changes for any diff. Having said that, I was considering doing it so early to in essence "break it in" by removing any metal shavings that may be in the fluid. It is my understanding that the drain plug for the diff is magnetic, so it should theoretically be catching any metal shavings that may be in the casing. At the same time, since Lexus doesn't call for the majority of their vehicles to get diff fluids changed, I am concerned that the servicing dealer may either over/under fill it, or use inferior fluids. So the questions are:
- Am I crazy?
- Should I get my Torsen LSD fluid changes now at 13,000ish miles, or should I wait until 30,000? Or better yet, do I just not touch it since Lexus says not to?
- Has anybody had this done at a dealer who can share their experience?
- Is there any concern by not flushing it at some point?

Wait till 30k. I do my rear every 30k for rear and 60k for front. My service advisor thinks I'm crazy getting my diff fluid changed so often at 30k. There's people I know who have an IS who have never changed either and their car still drives fine.

drives cars
My only cars that have specified diff fluid changes were my GTI and GLI, with their front LSDs. They were 60k interval. I'd probably just do the same on this car. Maybe 50k to be safe.
