I run this one in 3 different cars and rental cars. Worked solid for 1+ years so far. https://a.co/d/ihA589D

Just don’t get one from CarlinKit. Didn’t work for squat and is direct shipped from China … when went to return for a refund they demanded I self-pay for tracked return shipping which was going to cost more than I spent on the unit itself. Luckily got Amazon involved and they refunded the money.

It's not confirmed, but I have a feeling the IS for 2024 will get the new Lexus Interface infotainment system, in which case it would have wireless Carplay, no more remote touchpad and hopefully a wireless charger. Just a hunch since the LC is getting it. I can't see them leaving just the RC and IS with it for 2024 but who knows. Base price of the car will probably go up. We'll see...

They have no incentive to change anything on the IS before a new generation comes out. The RC and IS are on limited time left. Odds are the next generation models would get the new stuff. Remember how they did nothing for the GS line when others got upgrades like the RC? The LC still has a few years left as well as the LS so they got upgrades.

Rumor is that Morizo's children were kidnapped and held ransom until he agreed to update the LC interior. That's how much it takes to change something at Lexus.

FWIW the one I have is from Amazon and works fine. In 4 months I think it hasn’t connected like twice. Honestly though I typically need to charge my phone so I just plug in anyways.

I’m guessing it would probably be a dealer installed software update in the next couple of years.

How's the carplay quality wirelessly with the dongle vs. plugged in direct? Can you hear a difference in the quality of music? Thanks

I can’t hear a difference. I’m no audiophile, though. I imagine if you’re really into audio quality then you’d notice, not sure though.

If they add wireless CP and AA, they'll have to add wireless charging somewhere as well. Never had a wireless charging pad that didn't cook my phone.

How about maybe a rear charge port or 12V first.

By no means does this imply that I allow humans in my back seat. 🤪

Don’t think there’s an audio quality difference between wireless and wired CarPlay. Either route sounds better than streaming through Bluetooth.
