I have been wanting to buy an IS500 for a long time but didn't really need a second car now. A deal came up where I could take on someone's finance. They are asking 35K CAD, plus pay off balance on finance (36K). I'd have to pay the taxes on the purchase also, looking at 71-75K CAD. Would you consider it a good deal?

^^ So just to be clear, you would be paying 71K + taxes? What year is the IS 500 and what mileage?

That's correct, 71K plus taxes. It's a 2022 with 20,000 km.

Well, for what it's worth, I paid about 73k (all fees in) + taxes for a brand new one in 2022 - I am aware the market is always changing but this is barely lower than what I paid for a new one then. I know the 2023s have gone up but if you don't want to spend the money for a new one and this one is mint, then I guess you can go for it but I would try and get it for a bit less if you can.

Just curious - what color combo is it?

Thanks for your feedback, it really does help. Did you pay 73k CAD or USD? It's in good shape but obviously wear and tear on tires, brakes, etc. It's the ultrasonic blue with red interior. Maybe I may hold off since I don't really need the vehicle and pay for it when I am ready to buy one.

I paid $77k or so, CAD, for my 2022 LE. There was then tax and all that jazz.

It's good to know my car is seemingly worth what I paid a year later.

suginathan - Yes, 73K Canadian plus taxes. I would agree with you, if the tires are worn out and so are the brakes, plus God only knows how the owner treated his, I would stay away for this price.

LE = Launch Edition, limited to 500 units in North America.

Honestly, I would ask what the miles are on this car. Brakes and tires could be replaced. But, if it's low-mileage and the brakes and tires are already worn... that seems like a red flag. I would probably do a pre-purchase inspection if I were in your shoes.

^^ I agree the OP stated 20 000 Km which is 12 000 miles and seems a bit premature for these to be worn out. I mean if the dealer replaces the brakes/tires for the price asked, then that would be a decent offer IMO but not if the OP must also then have to replace these.

When I traded in my 1 year old LE with close to 20k miles for my '23 IS500. The dealer re-sold it as a CPO however, they replaced all 4 tires & performed front brake job.
