But for the time being playing it by ear is probably all we can do without just continuously sowing seeds of malcontent.
Back in the day we wouldn't even know what a TSB consisted of, we just took the car in for an issue, if we were lucky there was fix or TSB and they documented the repair on the invoice as "applied TSB #####" and we call it a day. Now to our detriment or satisfaction we know too much, maybe that's good maybe that's bad. As other have mentioned, if we only knew how aircraft are repaired, especially commercial aircraft we might never fly again. I'm an aircraft maintainer by trade (USAF), retired now, but we had to follow certain technical data for repairs. In the commercial world, not so much unless you have the FAA breathing down your back. Just look at all the dirty details coming out about Boeing and not just Boeing, how airlines perform maintenance and repairs too, it's not good. Guess what I'm saying is, it's good that we have all this information at our fingertips now and can somewhat hold these corporations accountable. Some will refuse to fly a Boeing aircraft or fly with United because of what we now know almost immediately due to the internet and technology. The same thing could happen with Lexus/Toyota, some may refuse to buy these vehicles because of what we now know and how we perceive their response to an issue that although is only cosmetic, to car enthusiasts it's a make or break issue.

The payout from an airplane catastrophe is amazeballs though. A car bumper flying off, not so much.

Amazeballs indeed. So much so you won't be around to enjoy it. At least the family is financially secure...

Idk...Seems like the latest Boeing incidents might scare the crap out of you, but not necessarily kill you.

Is this you?

I think this would result in some bumper separation if you know what I mean.

I work in aviation, my company makes 20+ million dollar aircraft. You would be shocked how often zip ties and adhesive are used. If it works, it works.

OK - not trying to stir the pot here, but let's say I can get comfortable with the proposed fix. I have a couple honest questions for those with the requisite knowledge and experience.........because I haven't been in there to actually see the construction/assembly.
Is it possible that with the shimming that the gap between the bumper and fender could cause other issues down the road?
Possibility of the bumper cover now rubbing the fender and a potential to lead to noise or paint rub?
Too much stress on the bumper bracket?
Due to tightness, any future bumper cover removal necessitating replacement because a tab(s) will likely be torn when tugged out?
