Congrats on the new whip!
Nice! Maybe they addressed it who knows, time will tell. Thanks, it's good to be back in Lexus family.

So is this going to be a universal fix even for those without the separation, or are just those affected?

I just took ownership of a LE with ~10,000 miles and bumper separation on the driver side was reported to the dealership at the 2,000 mile mark. They recorded that a "repair" was done, but the separation is still evident some 8,000 miles later. Sure would be nice to have this officially put to bed, but I would hate to have to repay for ceramic and PPF.

Stopped by my local Toyota dealership to pickup parts for my 4Runner. Noticed a new Crown sitting on the showroom floor with the same issue.

Does Toyota not know how to put bumpers on cars?

^^ it is infuriating to see something as the basics of building a car, ensure the pieces stay on the car! I have a 2022 chevy Spark and that car has been flawless, as with the 2016 and 2020 version. That car is inexpensive yet so well put together...how can a company like Toyota/Lexus be beaten on assembly quality over a cheap subsidiary gm in south korea?! At least they are working on a fix to the 500 but gheez Louise!

Wait until I tell you that our 2022 Toyota Highlander currently has a recall, with no fix, because the whole front bumper can just come off lmao. And for some forum users it has and the result is very disastrous.

Now I'm kind of on the edge whether I should do PPF before this gets addressed. My car has only 800 miles so far and I'm scheduled to drop it off for PPF on Monday.

I would wager a big percentage has ppf done and they’ll need to address this cost. Dealers push this add on and I can’t imagine they don’t stand behind the cost to replace if needed. I’d recommend getting it done.

My opinion, if you can afford it, why not do ppf. Its nice piece of mind if you live in an area that's prone to little pebbles getting flung up

Here in az, i consider it a must if you care about the front ehd of your car.

The contacts that I've been in touch with on the bumper separation issue said the fix will be open to all IS500 owners with separation, and notes in the TSB will not exclude cars with PPF, signs of a bumper that was removed, or even scrapes on the bumper. They even told me as far as "Exterior paint scrapes" will still be available for it. And if they don't keep their word on that, I'll be sure to reach out to my contacts over it.

I apologize I don't give as many updates on the forums, I do most of my stuff on the Facebook groups 😅

PPF and bumper scrapes were an IMMEDIATE thing dealers looked for on cars. I know numerous owners who got turned away because of a tiny underside scrape or their car being PPFd. A similar situation happened to me when I got mine looked at, the service manager almost grilled me while laying under my front bumper asking me things like,

"Well, it's a very low car. Are you sure you didn't scrape it on something? Have you driven a sports car before? They tend to have less forgiving front ends"

It honestly infuriated me at the time. My car had about 2,000 miles, it was new. My driveway is level with the road so I don't have an apron to scrape, and I back into every parking spot. I shouldn't have to get on the defensive when talking about a new car, and that's how the service manager made me feel. And I knew other people had the same issues.

I wanted to gather all of this information to make one big unified message and shoot it as loud as possible. And with all of the communication I've had to far, that's looking like a TSB coming in January

^^ You deserve a genuine Thank You from all of us here for taking the lead on this issue. Its hard to get someone to take the role on these issues and often, what happens, the issue just gets ignored and we all get ignored so you deserve some serious kudos!! I just hope Lexus Canada will not shaft us and not apply this upcoming TSB. I have already spoke to my dealer and its documented although mine is very minor but i just want to make sure it gets resolved before the warranty runs out.

Once the TSB goes live we'll cross the bridge of Canada. Hopefully it just includes you guys, if not I'll see who I can contact to see what can be done.
