Part of me feels the 10 speed would have turned this car into an $85k GS F price point if they did it. $85k was too much for the GS F kind of like $100k is too much for an RC F Track Edition. It won't sell much at all.
And I couldn't justify to myself to fork out $Cdn. 140,000 for an LC500 when I was able to get the IS500 for little over $Cdn 80,000. Of course, not one in the same (the LC is a luxurious masterpiece compared to the IS), but the LC just seems like a bit of a tough sell for what you're getting relative to the competition at that price point. That thing really needs a twin-turbo V8 to be put on a level playing field I think. I don't think Lexus management even for a second considered dropping the 10-speed into the IS500. It cost them next to nothing to re-configure the current IS for the V8 implant, and therefore decided to give it one last hurrah in the N. American market and try to sell a few thousand units. All the better for us giving it more exclusivity. They'll spend more engineering and investment $ on their high-volume products - RX, NX, etc.

Except that they don't. The new RX and NX suck.

The new 2024 GX however, is another story....

True that. Even the often critical Savagegeese gave it a good review.

I HATE with a passion the dark outline right in the middle on the front camera when you slow down

Personally I hate the auto front camera. It interrupts any sort of activity with Android Auto and is distracting. So, I leave the auto camera off in mine.

Same here! What's up with that anyway? Why is it there?

For me, the #1 thing has to bee the annoying cabin temp adjuster sliders… really? Not intuitive at all. What’s wrong with a plain round **** Lexus? These are impossible to adjust without taking your eyes off the road.

I don't mind climate control. The red and and blue arrows are also buttons for minor adjustments.

that camera is basically for people that can't tell where the front of their car is when parking, you know those people that don't stop close to the stop line at a traffic light or the car in front of them and leaves like a mile of space in front them, that's what that camera is for which means it turns on when you are at slow slow speed.

::heehee:: Bingo!! The Safety Sense 2.5 has a ‘let me manage your lack of common sense’ element for some. 😈

Seriously? That's almost entirely useless for purpose if that's the case. Mine isn't even close to indicating the front end of my car - if it were I'd be rear-ending every single car I've ever been behind at traffic lights - when they're already well inside that band I can still see their rear tires touching the ground in front of me through the windshield. That's a really bad implementation if that's what it's actually for. I always thought it was Toyota's/Lexus' way of trying to prevent knuckle-heads from attempting to drive at low speeds via that screen. It's really a shame that it even exists (for whatever reason) because it obstructs a very useful/valuable portion of the image.

AFAIK there are two different functions.
1) One function turns on the cameras any time you're slowing to a stop. I have this disabled in the car's settings.
2) Another function turns on the cameras only when you get close enough to something to trigger the parking alerts/beeps. Not sure if you can disable that - I find it useful (or, at least, not annoying) so I've never tried to kill it.

Ok I may catch some backlash for this because these "complaints" are VERY petty. Overall I see it as a positive that I have to go this far to find something to complain about. Here goes..

1. The front camera always turning on when I'm close to ANYTHING and sounding the alarm. (This complaint is common among this site)
2. I actually DON'T like the heated or cooled seats memory and returning to the same setting as when I turned the car off. (Often I'm getting to work when it's cold and it's hot when I leave and I forget to see the heated seats are still on from earlier)
3. The radio turning off when the engine is turned off. My other vehicle's radios stay on till you open the door.
4. I haven't used remote start yet but I've read that the engine stops when you open the door after remote start. This seems counter productive.

These are the things I've found thus far.. I've only had the 500 for a couple months and haven't driven it much. There may even be a way to adjust these complaints in the car's settings that I've not discovered yet.

All in all though, I really do love this car!! When I drive the IS500, listening to my playlist on that Mark Levinson, it's my therapy !!!
