I agree completely. Some may think it’s a hot take, but really, I think it is purposefully designed for people like us that appreciate the total package more than the tech alone. Would love a good place for my phone and sunglasses, though …

Agreed on lack of sunglass holder and phone storage.

I’ve found to the left of the nav screen and a bit behind works well for glasses (so long as you don’t turn too hard to the left) and my iPhone has a wallet case so it fits perfectly in the gap between the seat and center console while still being easy to grab.

Still might add a sunvisor clip for sunglasses. Works well in my old Land Cruiser.

I just put my phone in the center console, plugged in so I have Android Auto.

I haven't personally tried this in the Lexus, but I can say I have on our BMWs we've owned. It works that way on them.

Like a lot of people have already mentioned, the lack of storage space up front is a little annoying. And this might just be a personal thing, but I really wish there was a manual transmission option. For the first week or so I was stomping the floor with my left foot trying the start the car and coming to a stop, haha!

Yup. You, another person on this thread, and I apparently would like to have an MT version. I think it would take this car to another level of enjoyment, for sure.

Eh, I'm in different to the prospect of a manual transmission. This is a relatively heavy GT car. If I wanted a car that was all about the joy of driving, I'd buy something different.

The transmission is fine IMO for what it is.

I think it's all about the engagement of the drive. An MT will bring you that much more connected to the car and overall driving engagement/pleasure, IMO. Compared to the CT-5 V Blackwing, this car is relatively light. The Blackwing has a 6-spd manual as standard and getting rave reviews by the auto journalists. Yes, the 500 is a great GT car, but it could be an even greater GT car, reminiscent of the M5 when it had an MT. Just my 2 cents.

Looks like we are a dying breed, haha!

Obviously the lack of a manual wasn't a deal breaker, but every car I've owned except for the IS 500 and my first car (a '91 Mustang LX 4 cylinder with an auto) have had manual transmissions. Like a said, just personal preference. My trucks I have owned have all had automatics, mostly also because a manual wasn't an option on those either. Plus, it's even less of a deal breaker on a pickup truck.

This car isn't about engagement though. The steering is light. The suspension is soft. It has lots of sound deadening. Hell, it has fake engine sounds if you want it. You can't turn off the traction control without also turning off stability control and it beeps at you if you turn too sharply to remind you not to drive aggressively.

I guess our definitions of engagement are different, but I would agree with you that engagement in the strictest sense with this car does not exist. However, put in in Sport+ and run it at 7-8/10 and it surprisingly tightens up and commands your attention (engagement). Suspension feels more responsive and tighter, as well as, steering feels more weighted and responsive. Run it less than that and it feels somewhat numb and less responsive, in my experience. Throw in a manual transmission and I would think the drive would be more engaging and fun as your attention is not only fixed on steering and suspension feel, but also on engine response from the gearing and rev matching. I feel it just gets you more involved and in tune with the car.

As for the beeping if you turn sharply, I believe you can deactivate that.

Oh, as for the fake engine sound, even Porsche does it too. Truly sad.

Coming from a b9 s5 that had more tech, this tech is exactly what I need but does it better. Audi had more tech, but this easier and does it well including a banging sound system.
