I could see carbon fiber as a possibility, but my bet would be a black line special edition. That seems to be their go to for final model years, try to get a few more sales of the outgoing models .

You make a compelling argument but... How would that work though, everything is blacked out except the mirror strip and trunk badge. Maybe they'll do a full Obsidian paint job?

They can make everything black and call it the Spinal Tap Edition.

I used to worship at the alter of Structural Blue until I saw it in person. You cannot see any real difference between it and the USB, not enough to warrant an up charge for sure.

In the beginning the Lexus exec said there would only be a 4 year run for the IS 500. So I think 2025 will be it, but like @95bat said, I have mine and I’m quite happy with it.

Side note, I doubt the new infotainment will ever make its way into the 3IS. The 3IS touchscreen was put into the RC for 2023 and since the center-stack is the same, I think it was done to placate everyone. The new infotainment was put into the LC 500, because that model is not going anywhere. Kaizen is in full effect for the LC and no more for the current IS or RC.

I actually heard a rumor that Structural Blue was made from the dust of crushed Japanese blue butterflies and their pupa. I didn’t believe it until I came across these articles:

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20...erfly-extinct/

2018 was just after when structural blue was released. So yeah I’m not surprised it’s a limited color that costed more and is no longer used. No more butterflies.

I think it's made from the essence of the soul of Blue Morpho.

They were INSPIRED by the blue morpho... they didn't actually use it. That would be insanity.

I definitely wouldn't put it past Lexus to kill off an entire species of local butterfly for their prized experimental paint color. The timing is not coincidental. Also ask yourself, if structural blue is so easy to make why not continue making it? Toyota has huge control in Japan. They practically own the island and could have easily paid off a few scientists to say the extinction was environmental. As I share this information, I am in fear of my life.

The 25’ IS seems to be an all electric car you see on the Lexus website? I’m not sure what they will do but pretty soon all the cars will be full EV eventually.
LOL! Barney Purple that’s a nice touch and put some green wheels with that

Based on the pics I'd say the size of the sedan is definitely an IS. Would make sense as it would compete with the Model 3. If they could keep it around 50-55k then they'd create competition. Somehow I doubt they'd be able to produce it that cheap......everyone else besides Tesla is taking a beating on margins of their EVs.

There's also the possibility of both EV and ICE/hybrid variants of the car.

also have to see if it is really going to be based on Mazda rear drive chassis cuz many rumors floating around that it will, since Toyota/Lexus don't want to develop a compact version of the TNGA-L
