2024 is 500

Our Grand Highlander's wireless Android Auto is also buggy. Not worth holding out for the near zero possibility of it being on the 24MY

This is exactly how I feel. If I want my phone connected, I’ll connect it. I don’t like the idea of sending my data through the airwaves just to save 1 second.

I bought the MA1 Motorola Wireless Android Adapter, the car is still new. I'm occupied with a lot of things, will try to get that one and post an update on other thread how it works. That said, as I mentioned it earlier, if IS 500 2024 is the last MY there will not be a total change of Infotainment by removal of the touch pad with Wireless Android and Carplay system. Also a bit of a disappointment seeing the Blue Vector being Toyota paint and nothing from the LC side of Lexus premium paints. The black chrome on mirror caps is decent change I guess.

So I have a wireless android auto dongle for short trips but when I went to Chicago there is no way my battery was going to last putting google maps and music out to the system so I had it plugged in the whole time. I don't feel the need for wireless android auto in the system.

Wow I had no idea wireless connectivity was so buggy/worthless. Driving my IS350 when all the tech (what little of it) works all the time, I guess ignorance is bliss.
Think how much bliss in my future tech-less IS500!

Infotainment tech always lags behind in cars. Think about when a car begins development up until it hits the showroom floor. That's likely multiple years. Look at how many features get added to phones in just a few years. On top of that, infotainment systems have to be designed to actually withstand different environments than our phones and laptops, such as higher ranges of temperature fluctuations. All this is obviously going to sit on the backburner of most car brands, since they are first and foremost trying to make a car that happens to have tech in it.

sucks because when I rented a 2020 330i wireless CarPlay was so seamless absolutely blows that Lexus is late to the game and their tech still sucks.

drives cars
My wife's last car was a 2021 330i. Her wireless Android Auto failed to connect randomly, and we had to restart iDrive to fix it. Happened once in a blue moon. I've never had such an issue with any Lexus I've owned.

Not that anyone should have expected any different, but it looks like yesterday Lexus announced retirement of the App Suite functionality on the old infotainment, and in the affected model list, it includes “IS 2014-2024,” so you can bet with practically complete certainty that the 2024s won’t have new infotainment.

Basically they used to have apps integrated into the nav system (like Pandora, iHeart Radio, Facebook, etc) and they would use your phone’s internet via Bluetooth for data, through an app on your phone (currently the Lexus app, but it used to be called “Lexus Enform”). Support for it has dwindled over time, there’s only like two apps left on my GS350 when there were probably like 10-12 when it was a new service. The IS doesn’t seem to have anything useful in there either. I was surprised they still had it at all but I guess this is still the “old” infotainment system.

So I’m catching up on my YT viewage and Kirk said sales of the IS 500 went up 13% in September. Add in the RX and NX and this is supposedly the best September…ever?! 😳 Not sure if it’s true, BUT, there are a ton of new IS 500 owners! 💪🏽❤️
