2024 is 500

Jeez...3rd IS500 in <2 years and already trying to sell it. Either you live very wealthily in MI (whatever state that is, who cares), or you're just the biggest fool here. In either case, you have car ADD but worse you're soiling nice brand new IS500s. This guy needs to be banned from Lexus.
But really, unless they were insurance or lemon related, that's a ton of cash to be lighting on fire.

He's making the "I'd buy the car used in a heartbeat" folks on car forums put their money where their mouth is. I'd wish I knew so many of these would be lightly used for a discount so I could have saved some cash. There's a 2023 USB Premium with Wheel Package going for $60k and they barely hit the break in mileage!

Nobody ever resold this car for a profit, AFAIK. Maybe in the very early days with a 2022 model, but certainly not in the last year. He claims the resale value is good which is true, but I imagine he's still losing money on the taxes. Aside from that its just a massive waste of time and paperwork to trade out for the same car every 6 months. I mean who does that??

I only had my Mk7 GTI for 9 months and my GLI for about 7 months. It happens.

It does happen. Had my Scat Pack for only 3 months before my IS500 because timing just didn't work out for me. I only lost out on a portion of the sales tax, so wasn't a big deal. But three of the same car definitely is "unique" lol

Beautiful cars with up-to-date tech but reliability and maintenance costs will shock you. That red Lexus back there will most likely last forever and go up in value vs the BMW. On a lease you're paying the dealer depreciation costs upfront, they then turn around and resell the car at the end of the lease at full market price having lost nothing because you already paid them. You in turn have nothing to show except maybe some good times for 3 years.

Now, if I had to pick between M340 and IS500 - the 500 all the way.

I think M3 is on another level in terms of performance, with the manual transmission, great suspension, powerplant, etc.. And I'm sure BMW is sandbagging the numbers. LOL. no way these are "just making 500 hp".

And have to lease again, and again and again in a vicious cycle of leasing that never ends. LOL. The ultimate trap of renting a car indefinitely. But for some, they don't mind, and of course, others can write-off the lease payments as business expenses, etc. etc. Some will argue that I would never want long term ownership of a BMW given the brutal repair costs down the road, so I'll just lease, get the newest, freshest, bimmer every 3 years with all the new gadgets, etc. When is Chatgpt and other AI going to start entering into the bimmers? Chatgpt - tell me how to backup my bimmer ? LOL. To each their own. We can debate on here forever the pro's/con's of leasing vs. financing. Personally, I'm more old school and want to "own" things. I've never leased. Even my wife's bimmer - bought it used (1 year old), low mileage, was a good deal, cash deal. Done.

In my experience, all the things that are attractive about them end up making you feel pretty sour when it’s in the shop for repairs for the third time in 12-18 months… my most recent German was an Audi, and is the car in question. It was quite a frustrating experience. Think I’m staying with Japanese (most likely Lexus, or at least Toyota) for good at this point.
The biggest problem was the direct injection and carbon deposits. BMW knows this is a big problem starting at around 50K miles, yet they do nothing to address it.
As for leasing, I don't like it. I leased an S2000 in 2005, and it never felt like my car, until I bought it at lease-end in 2008. I don't think I'll ever lease again, and I know I'll never buy German again. Unless the economy just totally craters and I can find a new GT3 at sticker; I'd buy that.
