That's OK. Keep the Tim Hortons staff on their toes and thinking you're a player. . Oh , it's because he's driving a fancy white Lexus, something with a bulge in the front.

I was messing around with my dealers website today while trying to schedule my 5k service (actual mileage is about 2,500 after 6 months). Happen to run into this. That's quite a sum for what looks like an oil change and gear oil for the rear diff? Love the fact that they have rotate tires on there twice... on a car with a staggered set.

Have any of you guys done this?
They have to rotate them once, realize they actually can't, then rotate them back for you.

Yeah... more is better than less in all cases... is it not? Starting to pick up some bad vibes from this dealer. Or maybe its just a couple of bad service advisors I've dealt with recently that should not be in any customer facing role.

That price seems pricey. That's an easy "no" for me.

Not only that... but to change rear diff oil at only 15k? I don't remember ever doing that under 50k. In fact... I should go and look up what the Lexus recommended interval on that looks like. I have a slight suspicion that its nowhere near 15k.
Hmm... I may be switching dealers. Here is what 15k service looks like at a dealer I bought my IS 500 at. Nice place, just happens to be an hour away from me.

Yep. "Inspect Rear Differential Oil" is a bit different from "Replace Rear Differential Oil"... Though to be fair, I guess the inspection could lead to replacement. Even then, there is no way the rest of that stuff adds up to $1k.

This is about what I would expect for 15k service for a Lexus. With all due respect to german cars (I owned a few)... if i wanted to put up with a service schedule of one, I would own a german car. This is just my latest "concern" when it comes to this dealer. I've been thinking that I need to find a more "enthusiast" focused one to service my car.
By the way, here is what Lexus has to say about 15k service. Inspect, not replace rear diff fluid. Sure, its possible for it to go bad within that time frame/miles. Perhaps they think that an average IS 500 sees a lot of "special driving conditions" as per Lexus (below). I don't know about the rest of you... but I barely do any driving while towing, using a car-top carrier, or heavy vehicle loading.
Well, I'm going to defer to Lexus on this. Look but don't touch, unless there is a need, and if this dealer tells me there is, I would likely not trust their opinion at this point and take it to another dealer. Hence, it would likely be best if I just switched to another dealer beforehand.
