Not planning on building this car out like I did the RC, but I need to do the basics. The IS is getting 15% ceramic tint all around, and 70% tint on the windshield.

Onto the carmax story... The mirror on the IS was dinged in transport . On top of this, two of the passenger wheels have nicks on them, maybe from rocks, but not sure. Our wheel guy here at Lexus is going to have them repaired, they're only missing paint where the nicks are. My biggest frustration, is that while I was having my Card Key programmed, I was going to have the honk when lock LPS turned off, but I was informed it was already off... Not sure if it was the previous owner, or the original carmax, but someone installed one of those aftermarket alarms with GPS. So, the lower dash had to come apart and the whole system was pulled out. The reason I'm upset is because now my harness back there has t-taps for it, and underneath the dash there are two small holes where they installed the flashing blue light. None of this is visible unless you take the car apart so I guess I shouldn't let it bother me, but come on!

Im installing a Uniden R8 tonight, since I left my old radar in the RC...

This car is a hoot. The RC and the IS500 made almost identical power numbers, so I was expecting kind of the same "seat feel" but man was I wrong. The torque that the 2UR produces is something I've yet to feel in a car. It's so quiet and comfortable, it's perfect, from the factory.

I was also expecting to feel the same terrible transmission qualities, but the difference between the AA81E and the AA80E is huge. The 80 is much snappier, doesn't slip on me, and feels very very direct. Love it.

Congrats and welcome from #107 Hope the RC found a good home, it’s gorgeous.

Curious how the wheel repair turns out. I’m considering a wheel protection coverage but have been thinking repairs wouldn’t be too expensive anyways.

Agreed…the RC is freaking stunning. I didn’t realize the supercharging would be a net gain of roughly 166hp. Good to know if a clearly suped-up IS/RC/GS pulls up, I’ll know not to *****foot around! 😂

Now I need to research that radar detector. 😈

Welcome and Congrats!!!

Was looking at your RC build thread and saw that you said Lexon made those fenders. I am hoping they make these for the IS500 as well, I would buy in a hard beat.

Welcome!

I hope it finds a good home and someone who will really enjoy it. That car needs a motec, bad.

The wheel repair went excellent. Literally cannot tell where anything happened. I tried and couldn't tell.

I handed a few F's an L on the freeways in Mexico.

Welcome!
Doubt it, the lexon fenders require use of the OEM RCF side skirts. There isn't an OEM part to use for this generation IS. Lexon would have to come out with sideskirts to match as well then. Or I guess they could just make them the same way they did for the pre-facelift IS.

Edit: These are seibon, not Lexon, Lexon doesn't make them for the IS.

Edit 2: http://artisanspirits.co.jp/lexus/is...ter/index.html

Could be a big baller and do the 8100 Artisan kit. Wow this is beautiful.

If you don’t mind, what did they charge for the wheel repairs? I’m trying to weigh real world repair costs (just for regular scrapes and dings, etc.) with the cost of a wheel protection package that’s like $900.

I work at my local Lexus dealer, so I bought him lunch more or less and he took care of it for me. Normally we charge 150$ per wheel to repair, but that doesn't include tire at all of course which most protection packages include.

That RC confused the hell out of people. From the side, it looks like an f, from the front or rear it looks like a 350, and the car didn't sound like either, LOL.

Will the figs AOS count as a modification? I told myself I wouldn't modify the car, idk if this counts or not.
