You did an awesome job!! Thanks again for letting me test drive your car. That engine is SWEET! I also didn't realize how awesome the IS500 is in red, such a deep lovely color in person.
As it turns out, Bechtold and me live 4 miles away from one another.

That is awesome. I had a similar experience with @DLPTony - we both are in the ATL metro and are part of the same Lexus owners' club. I never would have been able to test-drive one if he hadn't offered. It was very gracious.

I think it also speaks to the quality of these cars, that owners are convinced we need to share it with people on the fence, like past-Alex and past-you.

Plus it was an excuse to drive the car of which I need very little reason to do. Oh you live nearby, I'll drive to you was my answer. Always looking for an excuse to drive it. So yes the need to share it was a little selfish. Plus I got to sit in the passenger seat and experience that which I never do!

Exactly. I’m speaking to the choir, but to those lurking… I cannot express enough how amazing this car is, faults and all. I will talk to a rock if it means said rock can get one. 😜

Steve, the sales manager from Lexus dealership in Houston just sent me the following info:

'Our rep was in yesterday and confirmed a 2024 IS-500 but very limited build, she said have a deposit and get a color because production is limited and luckily we have allocation for some. '

So it seems there will be 2024 production run of the IS500 albeit a limited one.

I also asked him since I picked up my car February if Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 had ever come to Westside since then. It had not. USB appears to be the hardest color to come by this year it seems.
Many USB IS500 is scheduled to be built on July 24th so either it's at the very very tail end of 2023 production, I think this is the case, or there are still more 2023s being produced later in the year.

Just for some background info I am a Toyota employee with access to the vehicle program, MY23 IS500 was removed from the program late last month, along with the rest of the '23 IS lineup. Around mid-July is when all the MYs transfer to the next, so far the IS500 and the rest of the IS lineup is still not on there.

There is definitely a chance of that but I have not heard anything of the IS500 being a limited production run for 2024. Hopefully by the beginning of next week I will see if the 2024 IS is on the lease program website and if the IS500 isn't there then limited production may be the most likely scenario.

Edit: I did some poking around...cannot share the actual info but don't be depressed for 2024 guys

So more USBs are on the way?! We just might make the world domination happen! 😍💙

I have one in order and haven’t test driven one. I’d say do what I did—just test drive the IS 350 F-Sport to see if you like it in general. If you do, there’s no reason you wouldn’t like the 500.

I happened to like the 350, minus the lack of power (mainly low-end torque). I think the V8 should probably fix that…

I asked the sales guy what they had allocated, since they don’t list them online until they’re being shipped from the port. He found me one that was exactly what I wanted, so all I’m waiting on now is for the car to get here and sign the paperwork. Because of that I’d recommend asking them what they have coming in instead of checking the website. Many of them (like the one I ordered) are spoken for before they ever put them on the website.

I got to test drive Bechtold's IS500. It turned out we live like 5 miles from one another. I loved his car. I'm in the process of selling my MB E450 wagon, gotten two good offers from my local MB Stores. I'm torn between buying a car from an out of state dealer that has a car sitting on his lot or waiting for a local dealer to get an allocation. I'd prefer getting an allocation so that I can have built what I want versus being forced to take what they eventually get that will probably have the optional BBS wheels for $2500 that I don't want. We'll see how it shakes out.

Oh, nice!

Maybe you could talk to a Lexus salesperson at whichever dealership you prefer (or maybe even multiple dealerships to increase your odds) and ask them if you can spec one out or, if not, ask them to let you know if/when Lexus allocates one to their dealership with the specs you’re looking for. That way, you could claim dibs before it goes up on their website.

On a related note, every one of the IS 500s that I’ve seen come up on my dealer’s website (Sewell Lexus of Dallas) has had the Enkei wheels, which I thought was interesting. Worst-case scenario, I’d bet you could either sell the BBS wheels and buy the Enkeis or find somebody who wants to swap.
