So what were the symptoms to have the car towed? And did the dealer confirm it was the fuel pump since yo usaid the tow truck driver diagnosed the problem?

Back in April 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 Corolla S. It was literally the 1st batch of brand new Corolla's with the CVT. Literally 3 weeks of ownership needed a new CVT transmission My local Toyota ordered a new transmission gave me a loaner but all was good. I put 40k miles on it 0 issues since the trans replacement.

My car stopped In the middle of a side street without warning. Tried to start it up but the engine would not turn over and the check engine was illuminated, my dealership confirmed that It was the fuel pump after they did all there checks to rule out other problems. When the fuel pump goes the car does not move for obvious reasons? I am bothered because I have had it only for 7 months but I have 12000km on it so far. I am financing this car all my other Lexus cars I'd had I was leasing.
Thanks for your message.

No. Kidding.

A car dying in the middle of the road (or anywhere) is my second biggest fear. Hence my 5th Lexus, but good grief with these problems. 😞

I tend to disagree. Your house needing to be fumigated is not likely the builder's or the lender's fault. To that point, no new vehicle driven under normal conditions should ever have a fuel pump problem within the first year of ownership. That's Lexus' fault. And with that, Lexus and/or Lexus Financial should not receive payment for a faulty vehicle that cannot be driven for weeks (or, heaven forbid, months) until their part becomes available. I realize it's simply not the way things work, but they should work that way. Just my couple of pennies...

So sorry for asking a dumb question but is the fuel pump issue the same problem that Lexus has a recall back in 2019 or this is totally seperate and is it widespread or just isolated?

I think the GS F and RC F had fuel pump recalls. My ES also had a fuel pump recall on the 3.5L V6. I don't know the rest of the models that were impacted.

I understand most of them had a recall but you would think that once they were made aware of the issue back then, why would they keep putting the same defective fuel pump in 2022?!

Doesn't really make sense!

Thinking back, think I took my mom's LS 500 in for a fuel pump too!

All my parts for my fuel pump are at my dealership In Toronto, so hopefully tomorrow my car will be ready to be picked up, hopefully nothing else besides the fuel pump Is damaged? It's been around 16 days without my car. Will let you know how It Is running.

pause payments? Lexus gives loaner cars. All you pay for is gas. You’re paying for your car and putting wear and tear on a loaner.
