I don't mind it, since I honestly rarely even touch the climate controls. I just set it to auto and forget it. But, it does feel a little random in this interior which has no other glossy surfaces. So I definitely think that, aesthetically, it would be cool to swap it out for... something.

So I've been able to find panels from pre-facelifted IS's. They are matte like the RC:

Does anyone know if the pre 2021 IS radio and HVAC is the same dimensions as our IS500's? I may try the vinyls as they are pretty cheap and not permanent.
