Default The Turn Tables

My obsessiveness with big *** engines continue, and it looks like AMG has also received the memo (V8 to return):

I'll believe it when I see it. I doubt they'd just toss the R&D dollars aside for a pissed "AMG Community".

If they cared, MB would have reached out before development of the current car.

Just electrify it and get it over with.

I sure hope it’s true. I was physically sad to see the latest C63. And, I had my first encounter with a proper C63 the other day and it was NASTY. Mad respect. But, “turbo-8-PHEV” sounds like a service department Queen waiting to happen.

I never really was super-interested in the midrange AMG models like the C 43, but I must admit that the 63 had some allure, mainly because of the engine. Also, I always thought the AMGs flew under the radar a bit more than Lexus F or BMW M models. They're more subtle.

Anyway, as for the V-8 returning, it's a day late and a dollar short.

The W204 C63 wasn't particularly subtle on the road.

C63's barked. They used to sound good. Not too subtle at all. What will this cost, V8 + Hybrid? 120k? Also you will have to live with a crappy new Mercedes interior. No thanks.

I guess I just meant the looks were subtle. But honestly, can't say I've ever heard an AMG near me on the road unless I rolled the windows down.

Hey, lookie here!

I will say, this seems to have a ton of punch and sounds crazy. The 5.0 V-8 in our cars really likes to be revved-out to get the most from it - thing is, so does this, but it looks a little more effortless. It has a lot more torque. Big displacement for the win. Also, I never realized it had twin throttle bodies - probably helps a lot with the high-RPM power. And yes, I know this one is tuned and has headers, which gets it almost 100 hp more than stock. I think what impresses me most is how quickly it revs in spite of the engine's displacement. And I also really like the exterior on these as well.

I am just glad we get a nice NA V-8 from a name like Lexus.

I had a W204 C63. That engine, along with the variants found in things like the SLS or CLK63, will go down as one of the best V8s ever made. I like my IS500, but the 6.2 L V8 is on a whole different level. That said, I was always worried about the cost of repairs.

Also had 2 different c63 507’s at different times(coupe and sedan). The emotional experience in c63 is on another level as mentioned. I think the is500 is a better and more relaxed daily. But I do miss the sound.

I don't think Mercedes is crazy enough to list a C-class AMG for that price. We are talking C-class, right? I could definitely see the E-class making it well north of $100k.

There is something very disheartening about how more folks are choosing the C43 AMG over the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and the IS 500.

I just don't get it. It's a turbo I-4 hybrid that weighs well over 4,000 lbs. Yeah, it's fast, but so is the M340i. And I think the AMG will fall off at higher speeds due to its dependence on the electric motor.
