Default Power mods

Has anyone done any worth while proven power mods? More than just a drop in filter/intake. Has any of these mid pipes or axle backs even been verified to gain power? Any one try ethanol and tune yet?

Nobody has, as far as I know, dynoed their car to see gains and posted on here. RR Racing has some dynos I think. Tuning isn't an option yet.

The mid pipe is a proven power gain mod. The benefit is obviously unique to each make and model car. Adding the axle back alone not so much, a little but nothing serious, but combined with the mid pipe it maxes the mid pipes ability. It is my understanding the mid pipe on the IS 500 is good for HP increases in the low 20s and torque in the high single digits to lower 10s. If the end result goes from 390 torque to 400 and 472 hp to 495ish, that is a serious improvement. The other easiest and powerful resulting mod is headers. On average the headers are good for 60ish hp increase and 15 to 20ish in torque. Together that is 30 lbs in in torque and 550hp increase. Serious results. I am going to get the headers, but not until the warranty is over. Not that it is invasive, but just an obvious mod and a lot of disconnecting and reconnecting stuff that could unintentionally have a problem.

I have done the exhaust (mid pipe, muffler and header mods before on other cars through the years. The difference is very real.

Your power gains are way over inflated. Even RR Racing with their mega dyno session only got 8 hp from headers WITH a tune. Removing the cats got 12 more hp. Expect less without a tune. But they do their runs in 4th gear which gives higher power readings which makes me wonder what the real results would be. I guess that also explains why they have one of the highest stock dyno numbers out there lol not testing in 6th gear with 1:1 ratio like you're supposed to.

To the OP... so far I think intake and full exhaust is all that is available.

A member of an IS500 FB group did a dyno of the Apexi H-Pipe midpipe only and got 14 HP and 10 TQ.

Thr midpipe doesn't have cats which confirms the ~12 hp number.

How many runs? Back in the day, people used to big gains with just an intake on a small displacement, low HP motor. Turns out that's easy if you do one or two runs and take the highest as "proof" of a gain.

To me it's lots of money for a few horsepower. It's not big gains. If you want big gains it's forced induction time. I got a big gain on my Supra because intake/exhaust and most importantly raising the boost allowed me to take better advantage of those mods. Same on my turbo'd Subaru WRX and Legacy GT. To me an exhaust on this car is for sound and looks, not power.

Good question. He did not mention. But this was his Dyno graph. It's actually 14 HP and 20 TQ.

i agree but 14 whp on a N/A engine is pretty significant

this NA V8 for this displacement and being street legal to 2023 emissions I feel is maxed out. I probably get a non resonated xpipe for the sound only. Otherwise enjoy.

The Z06 has a 5.5 L naturally aspirated V8 that makes 670 HP.

Extra 0.5 liter displacement and flat plane crank Ferrari design let it redline over 8000 RPM and make that extra power.

For it's given design and displacement the 2UR-GSE is maxxed out

I don't think the extra 0.5 l and 800 RPM fully explains an extra 200 HP. I don't agree that this engine is maxed out.
