Default Key Fob Buttons Stopped Working

So, I was customizing lights, unlock feedback tone, headlight delay, etc., on my new IS500 and when I was done I realized the buttons on the key fob stopped working. The door sensors to unlock/lock work normally and the engine starts normally but I just can't lock or unlock using the fob. I ran upstairs to get my spare fob and it does the same thing. I retraced what I did in the customization menu and I don't see where I could have disabled the fobs. I turned some of the options on and off again to try to reset but still no good. Looking at the owner's manual you can disable the fobs but that's something only the service dept can do. Must be a glitch that didn't like what I did. I visited my salesman to see if he could see something I did but no-go so he set up an appointment for me later this week. The service dept thinks the car's system may have glitched and needs to be reset. When I unlock the car with the door sensor the lights flash but there's no feedback tone even though it's set to on. Anyone seen something similar?

I posted an issue exactly regarding this when I got my IS. Members on this forum were SO helpful in telling me what's up. You are exactly right. There is a software glitch in the vehicle customization menu that, if you go in and adjust, bricks the key fobs. The only way to remedy this is to go to the dealer and have them turn it back on using the Techstream. After learning this I have, and will not, ever go back into the customization screen. Save all your settings before you have this done to avoid a recurrence! Easy fix but annoying. Good luck!

Thanks dsksvr17! That makes me feel better. Wonder why it's so glitchy, I never had any issues with my NX300h and all the options were the same, was in there changing stuff all the time, not anymore!

@Benibiker1558 Do you have a 2023? I've adjusted all of the settings on my 2023 and not experienced this.

Yes I have a 23', I just picked it up last week. We customized it at the dealership and I made other changes at home and everything worked fine. Three days later I lowered the feedback tone on the door locks and then noticed the key fobs didn't work anymore. I have a service appointment to reset the system this weekend, hope that's all it is.

Well my key fobs work again. Per the service workorder and dsksvr17, "used Techstream to turn on function for customer." They believe if you do too many customizations at once it may lock up the system. Everything is set how I want it, I'm not touching it again!

Do you know what the exact setting is called in Techstream so I can avoid wasting my time and tell the dealer / service member what I need them to change back?

I have a new 2023 GX and same thing.. changed some settings and when i changed feedback tone the settings on the screen started acting all going to off or whatever.. from that point fwd.. all my key fobs stopped working.. i can only unlock / lock but touching handle indentation... so strange of a bug... wonder if there is a software update or service bulletin to fix since seems wide spread for those customers that change their settings : )

Do not know the exact settings but I will say just going to the dealer and letting them know your key fobs do t work should suffice. I remember the tech said it's an easy fix and remember him showing me on his iPad where the key fob was "off". Once he turned it on a worked but make sure they check all doors and function before you leave. I almost left without my trunk release button working and he fixed it. It's unbelievable a company like lexus hasn't figured this out yet. Good luck mate!

Thank you.. yes floors me it is happening and across various vehicles not just one line so obviously a bug in their personalized settings portal in the car when you change too many settings in the dock locks section... if i recall it was when i was messing with the feedback tone volume...

One thing I noticed when it happened to me was, I had the keys to my IS and keys to my NX in my pocket as I was customizing some settings. I noticed it seemed to lock or seem confused and next thing I know the key fob stopped working. I also noticed the trunk couldn't decide if it would open or not using the button below the trunk when I had both keys in my pocket. Ever since it was reset I've gone back in to adjust things with no problems and with just the IS key fob with me. I would say be careful not to have fobs for other cars with you when you customize. Do you all remember if that was case for you?

Oh man.... you know what... now that i think about it I may have had both keys since I was going to program each set to the individual seat settings. I can't say for sure but now that you mention it, I may have had the keys in my pocket or the other set very close by.....

That may make more sense.... never do any programming with both FOB's on your or very close by....

Both fobs for the same car shouldn't be a problem. In my case it was a fob for the IS and a fob for my NX both in my pocket at the same time while customizing or even just using the trunk button or door sensor to open them. The car seemed confused by both fobs.
